DVD UPGRADE- NAV SYSTEM NOW INOPERATIVE

    [attachmentid=3980]As part of my 30K check, I asked for an upgraded nav system DVD, swallowed hard, and paid the $250. The dealer turned the car over to me, supposedly with the DVD installed, but when I tried the map, I got "cannot read data, check to see DVD is correct".

    I have a 2005 Prius and the DVD is labeled "data version 5.1, see attachment.

    I have asked the dealer to retain the old DVD, but I wonder if perhaps there was a failed installation of some software on the new DVD that might be the problem

    Any perspectives?

    Maybe you got 5.1 for the 2006.

    Bad disk or not, the dealer should fix what ended up broke...

    There are two versions of the 5.1. One is for the 2005 and one is for the 2006 due to the enhanced graphics. It's possible the dealer sold you the latter.

    I agree with mikepaul said (he also beat me to the suggestion), the dealer should take care of it.

    Thanks for your feedback.

    The dealer rep tells me that that was a 2005 version of the 5.1 disk, and that it must just be bad (?).

    I'll pick up the old disk and use it while they order a new one.

    take a look about five or so photos down from the top of this thread, and there is a shot of the DVD that is in the 2006 Prius. It is different than the photo you attached - but does it look like the one the dealer charged yo for? if so, they ordered the dvd for the '06 model, not the dvd for the '05 - both have the same version number!
