If I had to do it over again, I would get the moonstone. The black looks nice but it shows every little bit of dust.

If you had to do it over, would you get a premium? The $3000 difference is really irking me even though it realistically speaking is within my budget.

Do you have any "hacks" on the premium? What you do to avoid glare/being blinded? Brightness adjusted, etc that is good for a new prius and prius prime owner?

    I got quoted
$28,317.75 for the prius prime OTD (red exterior and moonstone interior) so I am hoping I can get a good quote for the advanced.

Before I bought the car, I really didn't want the big screen. I didn't see any need for it, and I really don't now. But all of the other advantages of the Advanced model were way too much to say no to. I also wanted a CD player or a CD changer in the car, but this was not offered in the Advanced. I have no glare problems whatsoever with the big screen, mainly because I have the medium tint added to my glass on all windows and this seems to prevent the glare problem from occurring. I do notice that static will attract dust particles to all of the black interior on the dash, including the screen. I keep a little rag inside the car to do the dusting and then it's no problem. The benefits of the rear traffic, rear pedestrian, monitoring as well as the blind spot monitoring are absolutely wonderful. I would never give those up. The attention to detail on this car is fantastic. Like someone else pointed out, at night the image of the Prius at the top of my big screen has headlights lit up. The black Softex interior feels and looks luxurious and is no problem on 95+ degree days here in Socal. (Remember, I have extra, medium tint, tinted glass).

Thrilled to be taking home my Prime! Thanks a bunch for this thread, everybody, it really helped me to calibrate my expectations.

So here's my work. Some dealers in Massachusetts that I E-Mailed were trying to get me to go for a discount of $700-1000 off of a Plus, not including the factory rebate. The better ones I got were all in Boston or adjacent to (all quotes are for the Plus trim):
Herb Chambers, Boston: Dealer discount $1375 + Toyota rebate $2500 = $3875 below MSRP
Copeland, Brockton: Dealer discount $1417 + Toyota rebate $2500 = $3917 below MSRP (But they were the nicest)
Bernardi, Framingham: Dealer discount $2369 + Toyota rebate $2500 = $4869 below MSRP
Tufankjian, Braintree: Dealer discount $2400 + Toyota rebate $2500 = $4900 below MSRP
Boch, Norwood: Dealer discount $2580 + Toyota rebate $2500 = $5080 below MSRP (However, that I found dealing with them via E-Mail to be wicked annoying. Prepare to not get direct responses to your messages and instead have two or three completely different salespeople try to start over with you each day )

I'm positive these aren't as low as they could go, but my schedule constrained my buying window significantly, and since I didn't want to count on the factory incentive lasting another month, there was only so much haggling I was prepared to do with them. I'll take the $2500 bird in the hand over the $3000 bird in the bush.

Other considerations: Doc fees quoted ranged from $350-450. As far as inventory, everyone's got a Prime in stock - there were about a hundred of them in and around Boston in total - but inventory isn't quite high enough to necessarily make it easy to come by specific color and trim combinations that you might want if you're buying off the lot. It's easier to find Advanced and Premium than Plus, Titanium Glow and Blue Magnetism were least common while Blizzard Pearl and Classic Silver were most common, and Black interiors outnumber the Moonstones. Either no one knew if the factory rebate will be renewed for July, or they knew and they weren't telling.

    Good luck, shoppers!

Did medium tint come with the car or did you have to get that on your own without the dealership involved?

I would've gone with the advanced. When I bought in Jan., there weren't any available around here. Definitely no regrets on getting the premium. No matter which trim you get, you will love this car!

I got the tinting from the same guy who tinted my 2012 pip. The dealer was not involved. Prius Primes already come with a factory grey tint, so my added medium tint made the glass even darker. Socal cops don't stop you for this, although it's technically illegal.

Do have other tips for avoiding the glare/ do you know if there are other hacks on a forum here on prius chat? I am very worried about not seeing the screen when driving and being distracted. . .

Curious to know what percentage of tint you had installed. Here in Illinois, the legal tint is 35% (IIRC this means that 35% of light can be let in). The same installer here will also do 20%, and sells more of this vs. the 35%, even though technically it's not legal.....

In South Carolina, I got 35% legal tint. The law says 28%, but they don't sell 28%. 35% is the closest to it that is made I paid $260 + $60 for the top of the windshield. The top of the windshield I got 18%. It really isn't an issue up there being you can't see though the sunvisor anyway.

So you just have all your windows and rear tinted and not your windshield?
