Scratches behind door handle

The number of fingers is irrelevant, if you keep your keys and fingernails from scraping the paint.

 

Well, it's just easier for me to not touch the paint when only using one finger. I can still do all fingers but I made a habit to use one or two.

@raspy sorry mate, I feel your pain. I think it's the penalty price of having a modern day water-based Black paint finish, although Toyota's formulation may be particularly susceptible. Whatever the reason, I doubt it is your fault with this.

 

I use gloves.

I second someone else's mention of Lamin-X. I installed the door cup films a week after I got my new Prius (C Three, but same basic principle on most Toyota door handles it seems these days).

Link to the one I bought: Toyota Prius (16- ) Door Handle Cup Paint Protection And I also bought the mini sprayer they sell to be able to wet apply the films with some mild soapy water.

Isn't only the Prius that scratch like that. I think all cars with that type of handles. I sow that in other cars.
My Prius it's so scratched on the front handles! I think the women open the doors with the nails

 

Raspy, take a picture or video of your hand inside the door handle. Show us exactly how you open the door. Show us those claws! Do you have rings on that hand?

That is weird. I still don't have one scratch inside my door handle. (18 months). Maybe it's because I chew my fingernails? (just kidding). I also apply wax to my Prius every month. Maybe that helps. And I always open the door for the ladies. I don't want them touching it!

Diamond engagement rings etc are the biggest culprits IMHO. Not sure that excuse for not getting her one would have favourable results with the other half.

 

I had to same thing happen on my 2014 Prius C. Now that I got a little upgrade to my 2017 Prius, I was very happy to see that it came with plastic protectors similar to the picture someone posted up above. They had to bring my car from another dealership and the manager claimed the other dealership paid to put it on all their cars. I'm happy they did so and luckily I wasn't charged a thing.
