I charge once per day and my commute is ~72 mile round trip. In the colder months (Feb, Mar and Apr), I got about 1000-1100 miles per tank. My last 2 fill ups for May and June were 1382 and 1331. Best tank I ever had with my 2012 v was 720. Granted, I charge now to add to the cost, but my cost per mile went from $0.06 to $0.023 (including elec cost). That, you can't complain about! :D(y)

There may not be a mileage threshold for the Prime. Actually, a time threshold would make a lot more sense for a plug-in hybrid. Or it may take the actual ICE running time into account. I don't think anyone outside of Toyota engineering really knows.

i think the science has already been settled in the threads you are posting in, the ice does not come on in ev mode, except for one or two special conditions.

Thanks. That's great to know. Let me finish reading the entire thread. It is such a long thread. ;) If I have more question, I will post it. Then comes Dec, like it or not, I will be pretty much forced to learn all of that on my own.

Heck, I don't even have the car . . . . "yet", but I swear I've read them all about 3 times comparing the differences. The PDF's are great. That's the Owners manual, the Owners Manual Quick Guide, the Warranty & Maintenance guide, The NAV manual (wide), the Technical handout, and the Accessories brochure. Then I have 24 MP4's of various lengths on reviews, how to's, etc.ad infinitum.

No, I'm innocent on that charge, honest. I'll be ready to hit the ground running. I've greatly enjoyed, "stretching" the capabilities of my GEN III and I want to do the same on my GEN IV.

Perhaps the ICE coming on was the routine of ICE running after it hits a certain milestone mileage of non-use?
I really like that temperature you guys are seeing. I'm still frying eggs on the sidewalk, and it's getting a little dirty!!
Probably gonna have to get a non-stick sidewalk!!

I posted my results to state a fact, not to ponder why ICE came on. It has been rehashed throughout this thread.
