Just traded in my 2015 Chevy SS. I reset the computer before I left the dealership and drove the 17 miles home. Almost hit 52MPG during the trip (I'm sure the computer is optimistic). Its my first hybrid but I've been reading about hybrids for a while and have researched the P&G method. Its definitely a big change and going up grades felt like a huge challenge after driving a 415HP sedan for a year. The gas savings is going to more than make up for it though.

Congratulations on the switch. I have the exact same car, same color, and trim level!

I drove a Volvo S80 before my first Prius, didn't miss it! The hybrid system and gas savings are actually fun. And a perk of the V wagon, it has the best steering ratio. It actually feels better and more natural than most modern day fuel efficient cars with electric power steering.

Drove the 38 miles to work and the crazy high MPG continues. Had dropped to ~48mpg at the beginning and quickly made it back up to 50mpg. Didn't get back up to high 51s until I drove the last 0.5 miles in 100% EV mode. I did about 20 miles of PG at 60mph and 10 miles with the CC set at 60mph.

Use fuelly.com and your MPG will smooth out over time and give you a true reading. A rare combination of utility and efficiency.

Yeah, I've already got a fuelly account. Just waiting on the first fill up to get my accurate number. Looks like it will be sometime next week.

I guess if you're entering odometer readings on Fuelly it takes two entries before it starts giving mpg values? (n)

Good numbers you're getting, btw. I wouldn't bother running EV mode, it's kinda pointless, best reserved for just when your're trying to move the car around the driveway without start up, stuff like that. If it's available: it's often not, when the engine's cold. In the latter case you still have a few EV seconds, say 15, for chores like that.

Yeah, I use the ODO method and its needs a base reading and a fillup reading to begin calculating.

When I drove the last 0.5 miles in EV mode I didn't push the EV button. I just managed my acceleration and speed after turning onto the road and the car put itself into EV mode. Got up to 30mph before I pulled into the parking lot.

Still over 51mpg. Can't wait to fill it up and see what I'm actually getting. My guess is 48mpg. 1498600828653.jpg

Finished up my first tank finally. The last 2 notches on the fuel gauge were used in 90% short trips being 3 miles or less because I'm moving some stuff to a storage room near by. Made that trip about 6 times, plus running to the grocery store, Walmart, and the local park for fireworks. Computer MPG dropped down to ~47MPG from ~50MPG during all those short trips.
When I filled up the pump auto stopped just under 10 gallons so I forced the last few ounces in to hit 10.001. The manual calculation ended up being 47.2 MPG which surprised me since I expected the computer's estimate to be on the high side. Time will tell how accurate my car's estimate will be over the long run.
I'd be really pleased if I can average 45MPG while I have my Prius v.
