2013 Prius v *lowercase v for the Prius v wagon........* Front Strut Replacement - Video

    I finally got around to changing the front struts on my 2013 Prius v lowercase v for the Prius v wagon, not an uppercase. Only the 2010 Prius used uppercase Roman numerals for model designation. I had 155k miles on the oem struts and they were bad although there were no visible signs of leaking. I was able to easily push them in once they were off of the vehicle. It handles a lot nicer now.

    Thanks, just watched the video. Which struts did you use, I will look for something besides KYBs.

    Sorry for the late reply, I used the Monroe OESpectrum struts and just did the rear shocks with the same brand. I am happy with the way it drives and handles now.

I had 159k miles on the oem shocks. I used the Monroe OESpectrum rear shocks and they ride nicely. A little stiffer in the back than I expected, but it's not bad. Since I already posted a video on here of the front strut replacement, I thought I should post the rear shock replacement video as well. Here's the link:

    Rear factory KYB Shock failure: At 107 K miles our r r fact. KYB failed noticed oil covering complete shock... did KYB replacement shocks...easy as pie / 30 min R & R replacement. Took longer to find best deal on internet $79 PP tax incl in 3 days from C*r*d or $108 @ your local parts dept overnight or same day

    Radio Tuner inop.: Re 2012 Prius v radio (panasonic) model 57011on faceplate (every option, Sirus & HD, Nav. CD except no JBL) Problem: the manual station tuning knob issue: Internal failure:seems that if you have a tuning knob it jumps up and down as you spin it... it has a "encoder failure. It will not effect other features of the radio. So if you can put up with just using scan and then preset the station you want - you don't have to fix it and you can live with a finicky knob tuner. Or spend 30 min and pay 300 to have it fixed or buy used replacement (same model number) on internet for less.

    Out the front door! Damn a girl can do this! Thank You! Now how are the front struts done on a 2008? Are they in the same area of the front of the car? Cause i was quoted 1,000 for front. I feel so educated. Heeee :)

    I ended up getting the full complete strut, part #172682, (cough, for my Scion tC). Just curious if you noticed the strut body etched with "Made in Japan"? I also ordered the upper mount part #906989 that is for the Prius v. Without pulling the strut apart I tried to see if the two pieces with metal plates would fit the shaft and they appear to be too narrow. Comparing with the Scion tC upper mount part #906987 they are not equivalent parts! KYB sells the exact same strut for both tC and Prius v.

    I guess I'll go try to install the 172682 on my, (cough), tC now.......
