Can't find an answer to my concern. How do you how the drive battery is having issues? I just bought 2014 Prius III with 59K and have noticed that when I get into the car the drive battery only shows 2 bars but charges up whiles driving. When I park and return in a couple hours the battery is back to 2 bars again. Is this normal?

it can be normal, especially in a very warm climate.

You mean you park the car with more than 2 bars and it drops to 2 bars when you return? It *can* signify a problem but it depends on where you started. If it was 4, 5, 6 bars, it's a problem. If it's 3 bars to 2, it could just be a rounding error or a recalibration upon start up.

In high heat such as AZ (the OP) or Texas, dropping more than a bar after sitting happens even with a new car/battery.

I find the Li-Ion in the Gen 4 is more eager to cycle through the range of SOC. It'll use it more readily and it will charge it up more easily than the NiMH in the Gen 2 or 3.
