I just purchased mine too. The first day was great, but today I was having same problems. Only when giving it normal gas does it shake. If I let off the gas so it can coast, it stops shaking; if I give it heavy gas, it stops shaking. Mine is doing it at all speeds. At first I thought it was doing it only when the gas engine was kicking in but it does it while driving down the road too.

She is right though, the shaking almost feels like a sputtering shake. Not a balance issue shake.

I had the same problem, your intake manifold needs cleaned. Watch this video and maybe others like it on cleaning the air intake manifold, egr pipe and replacing the pcv valve. You can do it all at once for $50 or less in about 2 hours.
search on youtube "2010-2015 Toyota Prius Intake Manifold cleaning" by NutsAboutBolts is awesome, but read the comments for a few missed details.

    good luck!

I had the same problem on my 2010 prius. You need to clean your air intake manifold, egr tube and change the pcv valve. It takes about 2 hours and less than $50 if your mechanically inclined and can do it yourself. Search youtube for a video by NutsAboutBolts called "2010-2015 Toyota Prius Intake Manifold cleaning." Be sure to read the comments for a few specifics missed in the video. You can have the dealership install a new intake manifold, and pcv valve, but it will be around $800.

I am having this exact issue as well as all the other problems everyone else is describing.

I just purchased my 2010 Prius Two (240k). I noticed that the post above mentions cleaning the intake system fixes this issue. What’s funny is in the past maintenance paperwork I got with my car, it shows they did the EGR cleaning and gasket 3 months ago. Either they did an awful job or they lied. I don’t know.

But I know for certain it’s not tire or suspension related. I had tires rotated, filled, and balanced last week. And just the overall behavior of the car it’s obviously it’s only happening when the combustion engine is working.

This is a central problem to all PRIUS--- faulty piston rings > oil blow by > oil burning > clogging PCV valves, intake manifold, EGR systems, O2 sensors, CAT, muffler exhaust.

You all likely have carbon buildup that is blocking proper recirc air pressure flow affecting hybrid electric engine at lower speeds (<40mph); seems no shaking affects occur when ICE engine kicks in +40mph. Thus likely all your shaking symptoms are only noticeable at <40mph when engine is cold. You likely need to clean/replace EGR system.

Try to do more PRIUSCHAT research in regards to EGR system (valve, cooler, pipe). Good luck.

It might pay to discuss these issues in the Gen 3 forums as it seems you both have Gen 3s. For one thing, Gen 2s do not have an EGR system to get clogged, so I doubt you have exactly the same problems, even if on the face of it it may appear so.

Discussing such things will only serve to lead Gen 2 owners who follow astray and may cause confusion.

Rather than tag onto a 3-year-old Gen 2 thread, maybe consider starting your own thread (in a Gen 3 forum) outlining exactly what problem(s) you are having with a brief history of your particular vehicle.
