Hey ol'buddy! A near namesake of yours sailed to close to the wind on here and got himself banned. Would hate to see you booted off for being over critical of any company (contrary to the Forum's Rules). ;)

I'm disappointed because when I read the headline, I thought the OP had discovered a product that did this.
The sometimes near artistry that some people employ, would suggest to me that fixing scratches, and repainting covers would be possible. But personally? I don't have the skill and would probably just look to try to purchase replacement.

It would seem to me, that even in refinishing the easiest way to get all 4 covers to match, would be to repaint all 4 covers, instead of trying to paint two, to exactly match the undamaged ones.

As far as the rather neanderthal "Face Book Poll".
I don't think automobile care, or driving skill really has anything to do with gender.
Women can care just as much as men about the appearance and maintenance of their vehicle.
In fact if I was going to venture a probably unfair and prejudice blanket statement?

I've seen much more "Men" in parking lots, doing donuts and smoking tires, than women. And with respect to my own gender, I think it's more often men that are apt to jump behind the wheel, start to grunt and slobber, and go do something stupid.

But mistakes, accidents and even stupidity is not limited to, or the specific realm of either gender.

    Just a warning.
Not in entirety, but similar thoughts are what lead me to trade in my Prius last year and buy a Honda Fit.
Some undercurrent of simply wanting a "simpler" -if less efficient machine.

Coming up on about a year, without a Prius and I can't say I regret the move. I love my Honda Fit. It's fun to drive, I actually like that it is smaller, and it get's good MPG, if NOT Hybrid level MPG. And I'm not thinking about The Hybrid Battery, The Inverter, Electric Motors, or Regenerative Brakes.

    BUT....
The Prius is a great machine.
And while 10 year plus maintenance I think has the potential to become more expensive, I think initial quality, gives most attentive owners, that keep their Prius well maintained, low maintenance costs and great reliability. And I can tell you this. I'm getting about 33 mpg, mixed City and Highway,- with more City than Highway with my Fit.
And when you first go from "Hybrid" or Prius back to ICE only,.......well it's a little shocking when that low fuel light comes on, and you have only driven 270 miles. Just so I don't risk running empty, I'm refueling my Fit at about 300-310 miles per tank,
I miss being able to go that extra 100-150 miles or more. With my Prius, I wasn't even really thinking about buying gas at 300 miles.

So just a warning. I think leaving the Hybrid world....is possible. But while I get what the majority of the driving world would consider good MPG....nothing that burns fuel, really beats the efficiency of a Hybrid.

On a long highway drive? The Fit will push it's MPG up towards 40 mpg. And a lot of my friends think that is great. But? It's hard for me to get excited about 40 mpg on a highway drive, when I use to get 50+.
From a fuel efficiency standpoint.....there is definitely Prius Withdrawal Symptoms.

Thanks Electric Me. The Prius has been a fine car for 18 months. Fantastic gas mileage. I probably will never utilize all this technology to it's full intended potential, but that's ok, I'm very happy with the purchase.

I ponder my next car (2-3 yrs time probably) - will it be another Hybrid or EV - or should I get something more in the "FUN" category while they still exist.

Volvo announced last week that in 2 yrs all their cars will be either hybrid or EV, others will follow suit undoubtedly. Mind you, you can get a hybrid PORSCHE or LaFerrari or Honda/Acura NSX, but that's not in my budget target.

Alan, I was just about to ask what your next car would be. :)

Hmmm - not sure. I'll see what bobs up as hybrids in the next couple of years - I think we'll see a much bigger selection. Or maybe have a crack at something like a BMW 330i - it'd be my last chance at a semi-sporty car - before I'm too old to enjoy it. That said, I'd prefer a hatch or small wagon, rather than a sedan, which will limit choices. Last time I sat down with a list of every car on the market, set a top$$ and progressively crossed them off till I came to a short list of 4 or 5. Repeat road tests of those few, flip coin time.

But the other thing that's happened, the difference between a Hyundai/Nissan and a BMW/Merc is much less than it was maybe 20 years ago, other than equipment etc. There really are almost no "bad" cars out there, not like decades ago.

There aren't many bad cars anymore, but there are many cars that are much better than others at the same price (Prius vs. IONIQ):p. FCA products are still considered bad. It's crazy to me how people don't research cars before they buy and eventually they end up with some version of the Fiat 500, which isn't a smart choice after being the least reliable car for the last several years.

Hi - yes, agree with FCA products - they're almost a non-event here in Australia made worse by their reputation.

The Euros may not be much better - I've a friend who had a run of BMWs, but interrupted it with another "luxury" (newer) German brand which, after paying over $1000 for a 3yr service, when she was preparing to upgrade it, was put right off by them giving her an >$4000 list of things which needed attending to. She went back to another BMW. I suspect it could have been the dealer'$ $ervice department trying to make $ome $neaky $$$ - but they lost the next sale. But that's one brand I'll avoid too just in case it was really faulty. My friend with BMWs only generally keeps them 3 or 4 years till out of lease, so I'm not sure about them if it ends up being a long term purchase.

I was talking to one of my daughters - she suggested one type of car - had me suspecting - just in case it ends up being her inheritance? Ugggh.
