Please tell me what dashboard lights will light if the Brake Actuator Assembly needs to be replaced. The car is a 2009 Prius, so it does not fall in the covered recalls. The car is not making any chirping, whirling, barking or any other sounds that I see other owners hear when they were told they needed this replaced.

Thank you for any assistance you can give.

I'm sure you've figured out by now that Toyota has a warranty extension on this problem. I just got my 2007 fixed for free.

Is there a mileage limit to getting free repairs?

You'll get the same dashboard lights you get for about 200 other problems in the car. However, once the lights come on, reading the trouble codes will tell you what kind of problem you've got. You can post the codes here if they don't make immediate sense. (The car has several different computers that can report codes, plus they talk to each other, and some of them can report codes that only mean one of the other computers passed along a notice of a problem. So you can end up with more codes set for a single problem than you'd expect, but ultimately making sense after looking up exactly what they all mean.)

If you have any particular reason to suspect some trouble you're having is brake-related, you're in a bit of luck, because the brake computer is able to blink out codes on dash lights when asked, without requiring any special reader (though a reader can retrieve more detail).
