The auto-dimming green light is lit on my mirror, but what is "front" of mirror; is it when facing mirror, or the side of mirror facing windshield?
I'm presuming you're doing test in the dark??

    .
I tested the mirror in the darkened/closed garage (100° indicated!!) with car in "On Mode", as opposed to "ignition on" mode. The headlights/parking lights were on. The reflection of the latter lights off the white garage door did gradually get obscured partially when I shone the bright phone flashlight on the "front" of the mirror. BTW, in addition to the green lighted 1cm square on front of mirror, there are 3 buttons that can be assigned to garage door openers; one of those was so designated (kindly) by the gentlemen who delivered the car to me.
    Wonderful toy!

Yes, should be the front bottom of the mirror underneath the glass.

There should be a square indentation of about 0.5 to 1cm in the black frame of the mirror near the buttons, or at least that's where it is on many of these that I've seen. If you take a picture of the front of the mirror I can identify it if it's not obvious.

While I'm at it, If you could take a picture of the back or see if there's anything else resembling a part number that'd be great. Want to see what the actual manufacturer part # of your mirror is to see if that model is available elsewhere. The only thing I'm going by now is the previous Toyota part number posted in this thread. Willing to bet the EC mirror in the Advanced has an OEM part # that comes out to be cheaper elsewhere.

It doesn't matter if this is done in the dark or not. The light from the phone flashlight would be more than enough to trigger a response day or night.

bumpity bump,.. can anyone with an Advanced see if there are any manufacturer part numbers on the back of your EC mirror other than the previously mentioned Toyota part # 87810-0WN90 ?

Alright, alright!! I'll try to get the photos of both sides of the Advanced inside mirror today, if someone else doesn't beat me to it!!

    .
BTW, the mirror did NOT appear to dim in daylight when I shone the flashlight on it. The mirror darkening only appeared to occur when ambient light was low. Hey, maybe I've got cataracts!!

There ya go!! The model info is embossed, not on a sticker, but I managed to get you some contrast so you can read it when you zoom up the photo. Half an hour, and many retakes!! My invoice is in the mail, Har, har!. Note the light sensor on back of mirror which supports my hypothesis that ambient light is a factor in mirror dimming.

    .
Also, front of mirror has, from Left to Right, button for remote #1, button for remote #2, indicator light, button for remote #3, sensor, ON switch, OFF switch. Hope that helps!!

Hey I didn't want to ruin the photo, but my mug got in there somehow; the angle and the distance were a problem!! I even tried taking photo from front, outside the car, but that didn't work!!
And I'm not much of an editor..

It seems that the generic part # OBIHL4 is just for the mirror itself, and the Toyota part number dictates the length of the mounts. I called Gentex directly to see if I could get a different compatible part, but no dice, just referred me to an aftermarket seller. It's possible they have not made a mirror with a mount that is as long (in order to clear windshield radar hardware) in the past, which would explain the high price point currently.

Did a little digging today at my local dealer's parts department when I was there to do the radio software upgrade (TSB 0236-17)

The harness from the Advanced that includes the EC mirror connector is Toyota P/N: 82171-47A50
That being said, it is not *just* for the mirror, which doesn't surprise me why some decided to hard-wire it manually, as probably the headliner would need to be removed to replace the original harness.

Now I'm really curious which homelink mirror my Toyota dealership installed in our new Prime Premium. (I negotiated the mirror as a complimentary add-on when haggling the final price of the car)
I had read elsewhere that the Premium does have the wiring harness ready for plug n play, according to someone affiliated with a dealership. Can't remember where, though, so not super helpful, but certainly worth researching further before tearing out your headliner and running the DIY wiring.

After seeing homelink mirrors pictured in this thread from the Advanced models, I'm wondering about the homelink mirror my Toyota dealership installed in our new Prime Premium. (I negotiated the mirror as a complimentary add-on when haggling the final price of the car). It seems to be this one as found on Amazon:

It's "frameless", without a bezel so the mirror reaches all the way to the edge. The homelink buttons and auto-dimming activation button are on the bottom of the mirror (see picture). And while it has the familiar isosceles trapezoidal shape, it's upside down! (longer side on top). The homelink indicator light shows up through the mirror (see pic). The whole thing looks kind of futuristic. But I do have to wonder if this is an OEM Toyota part, or if they installed an after-market product. I like the look of it, and it functions exactly as it's supposed to, but now wondering about warranty, etc. Gonna give the dealership a call!

I've asked at the dealership. Curious whether they just plugged it into the already existing harness or had to hardwire it. I'll report back when I get their response.

$250 is defimitely better than $500. I also noticed today that the OEM mirror was amazingly sirty with smudges, a good cleaning helped increase visibility, but defimitely still miss the auto dimming.

I did get a 2 day TIS pass the other day and unfortunately forgot to download the wiring diagrams. I might stop at the dealer later and confirm, but i believe I was under the impression that the wiring harness over the headliner for the Advanced is indeed different than the one for the Premium. If I happen to go near there soon I will chat with their parts dept again about it.

I saw some comments on Amazon and on a different thread that mentioned the edges of that frameless mirror don't auto dim. Is that the case for yours?

There is indeed no harness there. I had to wire mine up to the fuse box to get power

Okay, the initial info that I got back from the dealership (secondhand) was that it was not a complicated install and did not require removing any of the headliner. Going to talk to the tech who installed directly next week to get clarification.

I had an installer in my area try that same mirror. What happened was that due to the shorter stem compared to the OEM, unless the driver's seat height was at its maximum position, I could not position the mirror to stay in place ehere I needed it because it collided with the plastic cover of the mmw radar.

Even at the highest seat height, the mirror was slightly angled due to hitting the edge of the plastic shield. If I lowered the seat, I would not get the right visibility no matter how I tried to position it.

Also, the trim piece that covers the stem part of the mirror tended to collide as well with that mirror.

I ended up getting the OEM mirror from Toyota and that one worked out just fine with no issues due to the longer stem asthe OEM. That being said it's a $500 part + shipping unfortunately.

Not sure how the previous poster got that same mirror to work with the install done by the dealer, but definitely didn't work on my case.
