Ok, OK, I got a ticket for doing 60mph!
Unfortunately I was in a 50 zone with a camera... (Multiple expletives deleted)!:rolleyes:

And I bet the Nav was telling you it's a 60 zone, lots of these 50 zones springing up where it used to be 60 and the Nav is out of date with a lot of them.

I thought your Nav read the speed signs.

There's no factory fit satnav in my Business Edition, that's in the next one up in the range, Business Edition Plus! No excuses, I thought the camera was switched off and it was a rare opportunity to overtake on a single carriageway to road.

No the camera reads the signs, the Nav relies on the latest system update for posted speed restrictions.

Why does the camera read the signs if it is not used for Nav? Or is that for the autopilot upgrade?

Our HUD display on the inside of the windshield does display the speed limit sign picture on demand from Nav system software (read 6 months still outdated).

    (recent test)
Driving on a known road... the real speed limit sign on edge of road reads 60 mph. The NAV screen shows where we are at on that road. The Nav outdated software has a speed limit layer that still reads this section of the road is 50 mph. So it displays picture of 50 mph on the heads up display (HUD). So the forward looking camera used with the lane detection and cruise control radar is not seeing or reading road side speed limit signs.

Its an outdated NAV software thing.

The camera reading signs is on the European models, not US. I believe they have standardized speed signs do they are more easily recognized.

It's just a gimmick/toy, speed signs read by the camera show on the HUD and MFD, the speed limit for that area in the Nav database is shown on the Nav screen. The sign recognition (camera) probably is a forerunner to self driving cars, but nowhere near good enough yet. It's a shame that it's not consistent at reading signs, as the Nav is out of date on many instances and the camera could give the currently correct limit. There have been instances of the camera reading numbers off what looks like a road sign and indicating a speed limit of 180 mph, imagine the self driving car following that.

Dream on. That type only recognise disrespect when they think it has been shown to them. Respect, on the other hand is something they never learned.

You mean you want those on the phone and driving to read too? That would be too distracting!
And you added another color to increase distraction.

They should put in a few additions to the driving test, drink 6 pints of beer or 6 shots of spirits before the test, take or make a phone call whilst parallel parking, hands free devices not allowed, and text 60 words to someone whilst driving at 60 mph on a two lane highway/road filled with Semi trucks.

I could fail that since I do not drink. I guess I am not a "spirited" driver.
