There may have been unintended confusion but there was no need to harass a new Prius owner who is clearly just excited about some new found functionality and wanted to share. Sharing learnings and experiences about our cars is what this forum is all about and we should encourage it.

    I doubt it.
People who are looking for a conflict will find an excuse to create one in just about anything.

I am sorry if I offended you. Really.

Sure thing. If you select "Info" when you're listening to a station, you'll go to a screen with station/song info. To the right of that info is a left-facing arrow (indicated by red arrow in image below). If you tap the arrow, a menu will fly out with rewind/pause/fast forward and other controls. There must be onboard memory built in to the head unit to cache the station when you pause. It's pretty cool.

No, as far as I can tell, it's just a built-in feature of the unit. This is broadcast radio, not SiriusXM. Looks like you can pause up to 15 minutes' worth of broadcast.

If it's like a DVR it would be recording a buffer, say 15 minutes, AND be able to record a program in it's entirety, if you specify. And as long as you start it recording within 15 minutes of the program start time, you'd get it all.

Guess we'll have to experiment - not sure what happens after the 15 minutes fills (loses everything after that while on pause, or automatically kicks in at the 15 minute mark and starts playing so you get everything, but just 15 minutes behind live).

This is not new. Entune in my 2014 4Runner TEP and 2014 Camry hybrid have this.

The way a DVR works, it's constantly recording that buffer, 15~20 minutes, whatever the design calls for. But there's also a much greater recording capacity, IF you intervene, tell it you want a specific program, either in advance, or within the buffer period (within 15~20 minutes of the program start). Then it switches from just recording that buffer, to recording the program, utilizing more of it's recording space.

I'm guessing this is a lot less sophisticated than that (again, the DVR reference was not supposed to be taken literally).

I tried it once when I found it in 2014, but I never found anything on radio worth pausing.

Same here. Worthy for sports events I suppose. I like the iPod integration even though I'm not an Apple person. I've spent a decade or two accumulating a couple of terabytes of lossless max bit rate FLAC files for all the music I like from day one to current with all the album art, complete ID3 tags, etc. It's a great way to eval new sound systems because the input is flawless. I'm always amazed by people that eval sound systems based on how the "radio" sounds. Lordy . . .

I love this. Ive been waiting for this feature for like 10 years. Just a simple pause , grab some gas , not miss anything. Or Wth did he just say ?.. Rewind.

Thats all you need. Neat. Ive never seen this on any radio. My 2009 chrysler town and country has a pretty fancy radio that plays dvds and has a hdd for uploading folders of your own music. But i never saw any mention of a pause / rewind radio. Now though my hdd is out in that and ive not spent the 100.00 to get a new one.
