Prius Engine Oil Leak

    Noticed a belt noise today. Checked and found oil seeping from somewhere. Does anyone know of anything common that will do this? Not much oil lost, but it is concerning especially around the belt. Image shows a small puddle towards the bottom.

    it's usually the timing chain cover.

    Third gen timing chain cover redos were $1500~1700, with some higher outliers. It IS a royal pain to do.

    i've read upward of $1,500. because the engine has to be moved, iirc. there are some threads here, i think some have tried to use a sealant around the edges, not sure if it worked.
    i think you can see it from under the car. most ignore it, unless it's puddling on the ground.

    Repair Manual specifies sealant, very careful and surgical application. Now the reality of doing that with in situ engine... yeah mAybe they pull it out, but that's crazy too.
