Just the other day, the dash of my 2012 Prius started displaying a "Maintenance Required Soon" message. That's all it says, I was expecting maybe a code to appear with it so I could look it up and see what it is exactly that needs maintenance? After posting this I am going to go on my lunch break to look at my manual and see what it says there. I just prefer to reach out to real life people because sometimes manuals can be confusing or vague, so that's why I've come here. I've tried searching on here and google but most of what I get is either for a Prius C or is asking how to turn the notification off. I just want to know what it means?

Just some more background, I've had the vehicle about 4 months, and it was at 47k miles then. I'll check what it's at now when I check my manual on my break. This is mt first Prius and quite frankly, my first "adult" car. When I figure out what it is that needs checked should I take it to a specific Prius mechanic?

    I appreciate any help! :)

time to rotate the tires and inspect a few things. it appears every 5,000 miles as a reminder.
the o/m lists what maintenance needs to be done.
tires and inspections every 5,000 miles, oil and filter every 10,000 miles or annually.
cabin filter every 15,000 and engine air filter every 30,000. you may want to change the tranny oil as a precaution, not required by toyota.

with cabin and engine air filter you can probably play those by ear as well, I'd at least check them every 10k miles. I only need to replace my cabin air filter about every 30k, and engine about every 40k because I drive 90% highway and they don't get as dirty. but i monitor every 10k

that message pops up every 5k miles to tell you to change the oil and reset the light.

You first "adult" car? You just bought a big kid's toy!

Have fun and just drive it.
