    Hey everyone,

I'm from Australia and I ordered my new Prius iTech a week ago, and I just got a letter in the mail from Toyota today saying that I can log on on-line to check the status of production/shipping of my new vehicle. I reckon that's pretty cool.

Do they do that in America as well?

I just logged on, check out what it tells you!

I think thats something they just started recently (perhaps due to all the complaining we've seen on here about not being able to track your order?!?!?!). i went to their site last week sometime to find a dealer near me (just moved, needed an oil change) and saw a link saying soemthing to the effect of tracking your order.

    First, what's an 'iTech'?

Second, I think since we American customers had to settle for what was already built, order monitoring like this hasn't been needed. I'm kinda jealous that made-to-order exists anywhere...

That's a cool idea from Toyoya. Now if the car you order has those colors, it's a KILLER. We in USA do not have options of this colors combinations or it's shadows in the picture to make it more appealing?
In any way, congratulations in your purchase and welcome to the Prius Chat community. ;)

Well I went to the Toyota Australia site and as far as I can tell, there are only 2 packages available in Australia... the base model and the "i-tech" model. the i-tech is the better equipped of the two versions and adds keyless entry/start, leather, dvd, backup camera, i-pod port in the center console, and some other bells and whistles that come standard in just about every american package of the prius. Also, the Australian prius comes in fewer (and different) colors (or should I say 'colours'?). So, in reality they can track the cars for australian customers since there are only like 2 packages and 6 colors... as opposed to the 8 packages and 7 or 8 colors available in the US...

Hope that answers a few questions for everyone!

That's pretty cool! I like the site's layout. Distinctive yet uncluttered

    That is pretty darned neat!

It sure would've helped me while I was (anxiously) awaiting the arrival of my Prius. Something like that could have helped with my case of PAS (Prius Anticipation Syndome) to know precisely what was going on with my car at any given moment.

    Lucky!! B)

In america the dealers would never go for such a thing... they wouldn't be able to say "your car was damaged in transit" and sell you car to a higher bidder.

I would have loved to have this. I ordered mine on 1/14/06 and didn't receive it till 5/29/06.

I really don't think the additional packages and colors is an excuse to not offer the tracking system to the states. If its already in place how much harder is it to enter a few more fields?

    Hey everyone,

Just to let you know, yes there are only two Prius packages available in Australia.

    Base model and iTech model.

From what I can tell, the base model in Australia is the equivilent of the Prius in USA with no package number.

The iTech is the same as an American Prius with package #8.

Unfortunately in Australia we don't have any inbetween, you either get no extra features, or ALL extra features. The price between the base and iTech is around $10,000AUD

For what it's worth, we only have a choice of six colours, and the interior colours is pre-defined. ie: if you get white, you get the beige interior (for example), if you get black (like me), you get the grey interior.

    Cheers,
    Kent
