Following a repair at my Toyota dealer, my 04 Prius GPS showed "Not Registered" in the "Near 5 Cities" boxes of the GPS. While the map was functional, it could not find any address'. It was pointed to the right section of California.

After some attempts at troubleshooting, this appeared on the screen (photo attached) "Please Insert Correct Map Disc".

I am able to eject and reinsert the DVD under the seat, meaning the drive has power. I can hear the drive spin up, but it seems the disc is not read. This is the original disc.

    Any ideas?

    Dirty DVD or optics perhaps?
Check if the DVD is the correct original and not swiped for a counterfeit by dealer.

As a cheaper last resort you can always get a Garmin, Magellan, etc. with free lifetime maps and traffic. They're cheaper than anything Toyota offers, including just the new map disk. They can be moved from car to car, they provide better GPS information and they're easier to use than Toyota's GPS. We paid $80 for our Garmin and see no reason to add any wear and tear on the MFD by messing with the car's navigation screens..
