Was thrilled to finally pull the trigger on a 2017 Prius Prime last night. Finally got out of the dealership at 8:45 pm, got 3 miles down the road and the passenger rear tire went completely flat. Called the dealership and they gave me the Toyota cares #. Not wanting to deal with the tire repair kit after having the car for only 5 minutes, I had them send a flat bed to bring it back to the service department.

On the bright side, the Toyota cares thing worked well (tracking the tow truck driver was cool) and I got some decent time to set up the Bluetooth, program xm stations and set some navigation points.

Heck of a way to start the relationship.

I remember the same thing happening to a new Volt owner in a construction zone not far from the dealership but his situation was worse in that he was a distant out of town buyer.

I got a donut spare for my Energi that mainly stays in the garage and is only carried on long trips. I've had one pothole gash that occurred in town but still needed the spare as there we no matching tires locally and I had to get one shipped in that took several days.

I have no clue. It was dark out, I felt around the tire and could not feel anything in it. I had to go in to work today and I called the service center and they said they have the car but have not started working on it. I am not upset over it, I could have run over a nail or the dealership could have run something over when they went and got gas and washed it. It happens. If they get it fixed by the time I get home this evening and I am not out any money, I will be happy with how it's all been handled (though I did tip the tow truck driver).
The Toyota Cares lady was funny. When I told her the mileage (54) she responded "oh, you really mean brand new".

Picked it up this afternoon. Apparently I ran over a chunk of metal. He said the tire repair kit would not have done anything. They patched the tire and got me back on the road today for no cost so all is well. Not time to work my way through the half dozen manuals that came with the car. (y)

Maybe a little rough at the start, but I predict a long and close relationship!

Yeah there is no way I would haul out the compressor and goop, that early in the game. Or any other time, lol.

The inflator kit wouldn't have worked, but they patched it?

Thanks. There is such little room in the trunk, I
That's what he said. He said that the inflation kit would not have worked. I have no clue what the difference is between the kit that comes with the car and what a service center can do to fix a tire so I had to take his word for it.

    That was my thought.

I bought the Gen 4 Two because it had the spare. Don't leave home without it.

If I had a flat where the tire went down that fast and an inflator kit wouldn't have gotten me going, I would have a tire store check the integrity of the repair.

Doesn't using the goop kit mean the tire has to to be replaced? And the rim needs cleaning? And the TPMS sensor could be irrepairable?

A patch can fix a bigger hole than the liquid can.

OP, at least you weren't like this d-bag who crashed their new Model S like 5 minutes after taking delivery (you know the kind of people who love to dramatically speed out of parking spaces? I feel like this person was probably one of them, except they didn't realize the car was in "D" instead of "R").

So this guy (below) wasn't quite as quick, but made for that by being more spectacular:

i remember one of the first challenger hellcats was totaled with 14 miles on it... just because you can afford a fast car doesnt mean you know how to drive it..
I passed a Tesla X today on the side of the road, guess he ran out of battery life.

This kind of thing is why higher-end supercars now typically come with driving classes when purchased new.

It's also possible that they are like us and had one of many, many issues with their Tesla.
