I want to order these Illuminated Door Sills for my Prime, but dropping $300 for something I have no idea how to install is a bit of a gamble for me. I tried looking for a Youtube video on this, but the ones I have seen have these plastic covers that you remove to install the Sills. On my Prime (advance) there are no plastic covers on the door sill (not the plastic that covers the wiring, the one that would cover the holes on the metal sill).

Has anyone installed these? How easy are they to install?

    Thanks for any assistance.

Make sure you have the instructions for the 2017 prime. The prime version has a different color scheme for the wires.
The instructions for the 2010 version will not work, because of the wiring. The new sills are LED, so polarity matters.

I'm 6;4 and will never attempt to do that again. There is just no way I could lay in there face up to see under the dash.
It is cramped. Most things just pull apart, and the instructions have a very specific wire routing. They mean it. When you go to snap some of those parts together, you don't want your new wiring interfering with the snaps. They give you a lot of tiewraps, follow the instructions, you don't want to create a rattle.

Be sure and get a good de-greaser for cleaning the sills. Then you need to scrub hard and get rid of the de-greaser. The panels are held on with an adhesive backing, and you want it to last the life of the car.

I highly recommend that you call the Toyota service department and get a quote. Maybe you could bundle it with a service for a better price.

Can't answer that but my Prime coming in early March has those on it. They look cool.

I probably wouldn't have. But when my car came in, the salesman took me over to it and showed off the features. It had the Blue LED sills, and it did look really really cool. Turns out, the salesman read the VIN wrong, and it wasn't my car...

Here is the instruction for installing the door sills. As mention previously, you need to pay attention to the placement of the front door sills because you'll need to route the electrical wire over weld bridge - see step 3g and figure 3.4 for detail. It took me about to do my. The first one will take a bit more time but the second one is fairly straightforward.

I got the illuminated thresholds, now trying to install. I do not have footwell lights in my prime, I have lights in the door, but have not been successful in determining what wires behind the kick panel go to these lights. I am considering connecting to dome light circuit by running a wire behind the headliner to the theshold.. I've tried and the threshold lights do dim with the dome lights. Any suggestions or advice?

I found the illuminated door sills on ebay for $99. Not sure if they are factory parts, but they look very similar

I just had the dealership install mine (was negotiated into the final price) and it took them over 3 hours to install the door sills, door guards & rear bumper applique. Or, rather I say it took them that long. I got there at 8am and left about 11:30am but I can't say for sure they started working on it right away. Main reason for me having them install these accessories rather than doing it myself? I had no idea how to do the wiring and didn't want to mess up my new baby by doing something wrong. If unsure - let the professionals handle it.

Thanks for the link to the instructions, KyLien... which, if nothing else, convinced me that there is NO WAY that I would ever try to install them myself! (But the info might prove helpful to others.)

In the meantime... I'm really, REALLY "pissed", because when I placed the special order for our Prime, I requested the Illuminated Door Sills... but they were NOT included / NOT installed!!! I'm STILL waiting to hear back from the dealership about just what THEY plan to do about that! (At this point in time, I'm thinking they should get them AND install them "gratis"....)

As an aside, I also did not get the floor mats... which I will ALSO be looking into........

So... did the dealership have to place the order for the sills?
Or... did the dealership already have them in their parts department?
Or... did YOU order and receive them, and then go to the dealership with them?

I was just looking for the ODBII port under my dash, and dang, it's tight under there. I'd have to build a shelf the height of the floor board to lay on to see what I was doing under the dash.

Good luck on your missing items.

I installed these myself...Not overly difficult on the Advanced trim as the wires for the foot lights are right there and correctly color coded.
Getting my head under the dash to route the wires was uncomfortable at best but the trim removal tools sure make getting those plastic snaps easier to work with.

Probably spent between a half-hour and an hour for each side doing the fronts...Slow and careful...
The rear ones are just stuck on with no wires...Clean the surface and press...Quick and easy.

I didn't remember that the under dash panel was pulled down for access on this install. That's why I was having trouble trying to look under it. ;)

Yes, on the drivers side, there are two screws to remove then the panel unclips...Pulling it down shows the connector to the foot light. Disconnect the connector and those are the two wires the sills connect to.
For the passengers side, there were no screws, just three clips to remove the panel.

The dealership had to order all the parts as they didn't have any of them... which is why I took delivery of the car before the accessories were installed then just went back a week or two later when the parts came in.

    Thanks for the info, JonW...

...guess I'll just have to TRY to get someone (at the dealership) to return my call(s) / respond to my message(s) again!

Just to confirm the parts required: PT94247161 and PT94247160
Do I need both of these? Is one front and one rear?
    Thanks,

The part I used was: PT942-47161
    It contained all four pieces.
From the web site, this appears to be a replacement for the 47160 part.

Back in August I purchased these for $170.35 ($185.82 including shipping, etc.) from McGeorge Toyota Online Parts
They appear to still be about the same price today.
