Confirmed: iPhone Qi case that works with Prime's charging pad

    Stopped by my dealership this past weekend for touch-up paint and noticed they sell a Qi-compatible iPhone 6/6s/7 case by MobilePal (www.imobilepal.com) at the parts counter. I've been looking for a case to use in the Prime, but mixed reviews and not much consensus on which cases(s) actually work. Given that my Toyota dealer was selling the MobilePal case, I took that as a pretty good endorsement, so I ordered one from Amazon ($19.99 vs. $59 at dealer). Showed up yesterday. Happy to report it worked perfectly the first time out - phone went from 73% charge to 85% after only about 10 minutes on the Prime's Qi pad.

    The case quality appears decent and the fit is good. Also, no overheating issues (a complaint I see in a lot of Qi case reviews). MobilePal also makes a case for the 6/6s Plus, but I'm guessing the Plus is too big to lay flat on the charging pad.

    I was looking at this case also however I saw a ton of reviews showing how theirs quit after one, two three months and am a little gunshy now of getting one. Might wait to see how you fare with yours.

    Sure, I understand. Saw the same reviews, but also found "mine died" complaints for every case available, it seemed like. Happy to update the group over the next few months. I am concerned about the small plug from the case into the lightening port on the phone. It's connected to the case with a small ribbon cable that doesn't look like it can take a lot of removal/replacement cycles. I've been successful so far not removing it (other than once to sync some files).

    I upgraded to an iPhone 8 a few months after getting the case and stopped using it because the 8 has built-in wireless charging, It did work flawlessly until that point. But whether the connector on it would have held up to long-term use, I can’t tell you - sorry.

    I use a RhinoShield CrashGuard Bumper case on my S6 and it works perfectly with the vehicle and other Qi chargers.

    Crafty, I just went to your link. Didn’t know they had an aftermarket case for the iPhone 6 that you can use in the Prime for wireless charging. I have the 6 plus. Looks like I will order a case tomorrow. Thx for the info.

    Is anyone using the QI charger in their Prime with an after market case for the iPhone 6 Plus. I read something in one of the reviews that the plus sized iPhones may be to large for the QI charger.
