Taco Bell? Say it ain't so!

    I was surprised to see: Taco Bell to get rid of drive-thru, add booze in 300 new locations | WGN-TV

    Taco Bell is planning to open more than 300 new locations with a very different layout, Food & Wine reports.

    The plans call for the new locations to be “cantina style.” They will not have a drive-thru – but they will serve alcohol. . . .    ​

    Well if you're going to serve alcohol, a drive-thru might be inappropriate.

    Often open at least an hour after the bars close, Taco Bell drive-thru has been the 'go to' place for a late night snack. I suspect other countries and areas have similar fast-food places that often treat the post-bar crowd.

    My grandfather knew Glenn Bell and grandfather actually ate at the original Taco Bell way back when in Southern California. I remember my father taking me past the site of the original Taco Bell as well as the last surviving McDonalds, way back when I was a kid. We had taken a trip to Southern California to visit Disneyland.

    That my family still talks about all this -- and I remember it -- says something -- what it says, I am not entirely sure. But apparently the original Taco Bells had fire pits out front -- you can sort of see it below. Sounds like it would have been fun -- and dangerous.

    Nowadays, I thought Jack-in-the-Box was chasing the "alternative perception" crowds.
