Boot space is my number one concern (I have a massive 7 seater currently). I REALLY want the boot to be big enough when I test drive it on Monday!!

It looks really small. In fact, I posted here that the Prime was out of the running because of it (at announcement time). It got back in the running after a test drive where I took a bunch of measurements and measured a lot of my stuff.

In reality, it's quite large. I've put tons and tons of stuff in it. It's wide, deep and taller than you think as I showed above. And with the seats down and the area in front of the folded down back seats you can really put a lot of stuff in there. In fact, I may start a thread on it.

  5. But will it slide back and mark up the window if you accelerate and/or go uphill too fast? I'd hate to see the window scratched.

It's not easy to scratch glass with plastic.

Would the below give anyone but me cause for concern when loading?

    Owner's manual (downloaded) p566:

■Cleaning the inside of the rear window
●Do not use glass cleaner to clean the rear window, as this may cause damage to the rear window defogger heater wires or antenna. Use a cloth dampened with lukewarm water to gently wipe the window clean. Wipe the window in strokes running parallel to the heater wires or antenna.
●Be careful not to scratch or damage the heater wires or antenna

Why would that give you cause for concern? That's been the same since the rear window defrosters like that appeared decades ago.

I've seen a lot of damaged rear window defoggers over those decades. Really disappointment to get a loaner and find out the rear defogger only partially works and it's the rainy season in Seattle.

I keep hoping the defogger wires are being made more rugged, but I haven't seen any evidence that they are. From the manual, Toyota isn't convinced that theirs are super rugged.

My experience has been with sedans and wagons, not hatchbacks. I've always carried towels in wagons, to drape over anything that might slide or rock against the rear window. Seems like a good idea for hatchbacks as well, especially if you intend to drive them as long as people around here drive their Volvo wagons.

And isn't the Prime intended for a long life on the road?

If you have something that has a slick bottom to carry in the back, just get a roll of cheap tool box drawer liner. It's anti skid and stuff will stay put unless it's a hard emergency stop. An 18" x 100" set of 2 rolls is only $10 at Home depot. I've used it to keep things in place on my dash so as not to use tape.

For one hatchback I had, where I need to regularly carry white boxes of parts, I use a scrap piece of carpet to stop the cargo from reflecting in the rear window.

I'd worry more about the defroster wires.

I would be more worried about the hatch glass than the defroster print, though both would be in danger if that cooler box slid back.
The glass in vehicles is tempered. One scratch and it will release the stress explosively, producing lots of small glass "gems". ;)

If you do load it like the OP did please do what I do - somehow secure that load from sliding - less tall items wedged behind will do it. I'm betting the hatch glass is expensive!

I was following a small SUV with a step ladder in the back. The ladder slid back when he accelerated from a stop and the rear window exploded when it hit. Easy to do, easy to prevent.

So the above poster can use purple gas? Farm truck!

I didn't need any gas! Purple or not. Made it to and from the nearest farm store on EV ONLY. :p
