I think so too. All the bells and whistles aren't really necessary it was just the dream of riding I-95 at night through the rural areas and opening not one but TWO moon roofs. Never even seen that before. However, logistically and financially it makes more sense to get the low mileage.

By the way, anyone know of pointers that'll knock down price? 12.6k pushes my budget thinner than sliced ham.

Perhaps you should consider a Toyota Corolla. It would be less expensive to buy & fix. They are very reliable cars too.

I wouldn't worry about any of the miles on those cars however any used car is a crapshoot. Obvious differences are age of 12v battery and age and condition of tires. Any available records of regular (or better) service.

My family has 2 v's. One Prius hatchback with 160k or so and maybe 80 miles a day use.

I've written up a collection of likes and not-so much'es about the v after 5 years plus of 42k miles on mine. It includes many comments based on thoughts collected from others on this forum. Prius v Likes and Dislikes - mikefocke2

In my v today I took two huge boxes of recycles to the dump together with a push lawn mower to a repair guy as a free "donation" so he could repair it and sell it on. The v's utility is valuable to me and I trade off the extra 10MPG against the space.

But would I buy a used car with no reserve funds for what could probably go wrong? No. I'd spend less and have a reserve.

We have two Prii. A 2011 Four w/133,000 miles, and a 2012 v Five w/128,000 miles. They are both great to drive but I am most happy when driving the v Five, even if I give up 10MPG.
The v Five has self-leveling LED headlights which are very good, Toyota softex also very good, and loads of space in the back seat and cargo area. The v also has better rear visibility since there is no rear window cross member. If by "advance yech package" you mean collision avoidance gear, then that would be a big plus to me.

There is a significant price drop on a Prius with over 60K miles, because the power train warranty will be gone. That said, I sometimes see a 60K+ mileage Toyota CPO Prius with their 12mo/12K miles extended warranty- and 7yr-100K power train- It's a way for Toyota to move these trade in cars- I would not be scared to buy one of those cars, which very likely has new or nearly new tires.

If my calculations here are accurate, you're getting an excellent price.

KBB estimates for Pompano Beach from a private party seller (very good condition) is $13.7k. From a dealer, the price should be around $14.7k. I think I'm buying my next Prius from Florida.
