I have a 2006 Prius w/#7. Does anyone else have squeaky door panels? If the windows are down it is less but still there… If someone rests there arm the door panels they squeak. I know, I know don’t rest your arms on the door panels.

Yes, it happens to mine too. It is annoying and one day I will a solution to quiet it.... I think the squeak comes from the new interial layer touching with the plastic panel. When I took off the door panel to install the leather, I saw how the new layer was added.

I have a squeaky (or rattling) driver's door window which is really annoying only because the Prius is really quiet. The noise goes away (or is masked by road noise) when I lower the window an inch or so. It only squeaks or rattles on rough road surfaces when the window is up. I haven't looked closely at it yet, but I am planning to try to get it "fixed" at some point.

My drivers side door also squeaks--only when someone has their arm rested on it. My husband always puts his arm there when he drives and the noise makes me crazy!

The dealer told me he could take the panel apart and put some felt in there to stop it. Any thoughts on this? Would it be cheaper, easier, better to get a new husband?

Before you trade in your hubby, and the rest of you go nuts from the noise, you might try some 303 Protectant sprayed in the joint between the top and bottom halves of the door plastic panel. It may lubricate the two panels and stop the squeek.

If one of the clips holding the plastic panel to the door metal is squeeking, the plastic panel has to be removed and lube/padding put in to stop the noise. If you're under warranty and trust your dealer, they can do it, or you can do it yourself following the directions in the audio forum.

The 303 is good for all your plastic. I am not a paid endorser.

It actually appears as though there is a hollow spot right under that point on the panel. When I push along the top of the panel, it only squeaks at that point, and I can hear/feel weakness under that area.

Also, from my elbow, combined with the heat, I have a slight dimple forming there as well.

I plan on addressing both issues soon when I remove the panels to change the speakers.

    Mike,

I have the same problem and added a new post yesterday.
    How did you fix it?
Any tips on removing the door panel?

Ken, you've revived a thread that was dead for a year.

Look in the Audio and Electronics forum for speaker replacement instructions - if you can get to the speakers in the doors, you have the plastic interior panel off.

    Bill,

I found those messages, but the link to the door panel removal was broken.
