After putting Goodyear Triple treads on back when i bought the car, and got rid of the OEM tires, now i am having to replace the TT due to 3/32 tread left and cupping...the tires were religiously rotated every 6000 miles and we ran 42/40 from day one...we only have 38000miles on them, and they were 80000mile tires...the tire shop is giving us 1/2 off on new tires ..will be picking up the car in an hour or so...so it makes me wonder what the deal is, and why the TT decided to wear so quickly...btw our driving habits is very conservative and never abused them whatsoever...

Just a couple of the usual stupid questions. Is you car aligned properly? Were your tires in balance? Was it used as a stunt car in a movie?

Cupping is usually something to do with balance, I think.

Ask the tire guy if the higher than normal pressure would have any effect.
42/40 is normal for Priusites, but not most car owners.

pressures are not an issue, as long as the maximum is not exceeded, per the tire guys...

in reference to the other questions...yes, the car is alighned...and yes, the tires were always in balance...and nope....wasnt a stunt car either...

per tire guys...these TT tires in essence will never get 80000miles as stated...most of them dont...
he said stay away from "one directional" tread and go to a tread that can go both ways...which we did...went to the assurance tire with bidirectional tread...so i guess, stay away from one directional tread and dont believe the 80000mile wear out data......
when i picked up the car, of course , they had them at 32psi...so i pulled right up to the bay and had them air up to 42/40...

I read through hundreds of opinions about TTs on Tirerack, epinions and 1010tires before buying the TT. I don't recall one review mentioning shorter mileage. Out of all the tires I looked at, it had the consistently best reviews. It seems something else was going on with your car.
