Just a quick DIY I attempted today.

Since my armrest was already naked and without glue residue, I decided to buy some materials and fix it. Total cost to me was under $4.00. My wife had the power tac glue left over from her projects. I was going to pad it but decided it would raise the height and cost more. Lol. Everything can be bought at Joanne Fabric store. You need at least a 11"x18"( inch) piece to cover the armrest. I'll answer questions if anyone has any. Oh and total time was 1 hour including the drive to the store. 20171013_130802.jpg 20171013_141538.jpg 20171013_151151.jpg 20171013_152123.jpg

Nice job, thanks for sharing. Did you choose black vinyl as a preference? I've been able to color match and texture match other projects at Jo-Ann fabrics.

I shopped the discount isle and really didn't give much thought to it other than it will stay cleaner. Thanks for the kind words.

Not only cleaner, but will be more durable. I will need to replace mine soon. It's coming unglued. I may use vinyl as well.

How did you get the blasted thing apart to recover?

There are 6 Phillips screws once you open the top door. Remove the two upper and 4 lowers will allow the cover to separate with a little pulling.

Thanks I've tried this in the past but was afraid to put too much pressure in separating the two halves.

I started with a 8x12 piece and trimmed to fit. It's a good diy project with some satisfying results. Enjoy.

Nice work. I re-padded the original fabric in our 05 several years ago. Still holding up perfectly. It's softer than the original, but I still wish I had used a denser padding material. I might just try your deluxe fix, too!
