Well, they were posting while I was busy typing. When I last counted it was 32.

You can check postage online at USPS.com

You create an account for free that has your address and zip. Then you can figure how much it would cost for priority mail to whoever with their zip and the weight of the package. I would suggest priority mail. You can get the boxes of whatever size for free and you can print the postage online. Then you just tape it to the boxes and drop them on the counter at the Post Office. You don't even have to stand in line if you've already paid online. (You can register your credit card when you create a USPS account and pay when you print the label. I suggest using Firefox, Safari or an equally secure browser, NOT I.E.)

All of my 1/60 are the same except for color and/or boxes and decals. They are all the same size and the hatch opens. My 1/30 size only the doors open. That is the bigger one the chicks posed with. My little black one has the road sign, like yours. I just bought two more on eBay. 1/60 green and a "blitz" model. When they arrive I'll have to take some more pics and update my collection. Hmm. Maybe I'll build a little diorama.

I don't play with them too much. I occasionally fondle them. I do wear the T-shirts. I just wore my Power Button tee to the preview of Who Killed the Electric Car at the Landmark. KPBS was giving away free tickets. It was great.

I'm now using my Prius glass to store my reading glasses beside my bed. I knew that thing would come in handy for something.

I don't know that sales is the place for this. I think it's fine where it is so the most people see it. You're arranging a group buy and happen to have the legal thingies to make it happen. But it's not like you're in the little car business. This will probably be a one time thing.

    (whirr-putt-putt, whirr-putt-putt, thunk)

Yeah, they were posting while I was typing, too...but my advantage on your count is that some snuck in with PMs...

I THINK telling us about fondling the collection may just be a teeny tiny bit too much info, but maybe it's just me... B)

And thanks about the reassurance of placement propriety--I DID agonize before I started--I think I have a touch of OCD (or is that like being slightly pregnant?) and I want to make sure things are in the right place...or maybe I'm afeared of authority figures...OTOH, it's some of the ones who AREN'T the mods that scare me more...

In addition to the legal thingies I have to make it happen--yeah, I already have a USPS account (and have been using it w/ ie for a coupla years with no security problems--I seem to have more trouble accessing sites w/ Firefox and Mozilla...). There do not seem to be any appropriately sized USPS freebie boxes--all too big and will require too much extra packing material. USPS even wants to charge for labels to feed through printer...actually, they farm those out to some overpriced label <strike>shillers</strike> sellers. I generally use the free sticky labels I got in packages of 500 from UPS, which we stopped using a couple of years ago when they became more expensive and less reliable than FedEx...I do appreciate the advice--honest!--but this shipping gig is one of my things as queen of administrivia. Unfortunately, the stuff we have the routine down for is a set of two computer manuals and one cd, in a box just about 1.5" too big down the sides, just enough room for a very little bit of styrofoam packing, weighing in at just under 3lbs...but we mostly use FedEx for that. I DO use the online USPS mostly for global priority stuff...Believe me--I know just about ALL of the sources of free boxes of interesting sizes...unfortunately, I can't think of a good strong LITTLE corrugated one I'd trust not to let our Prii get squished in by USPS punting...And going for a slightly (or more than slightly) larger free box won't help when I have to buy a few football fields' worth of bubblewrap to fill 'em. I'm pretty sure I can find appropriate boxes (and my box suppliers mostly won't ship in smaller quantities than 50-100 anyway, so we're good there) that will meet with the green goals espoused by so many PCers--minimalist packaging! Anyway--I am sure open to suggestions here, while we await the sun's progress from east to west, and East to start awakening as I in the West finally start falling asleep...

The east coast is awake (at least, this small portion of it)!
I'd like a blue one, please.
    Thanks!

I just print out the labels on regular paper and then use packing tape to tape them. As long as you don't tape over the bar code you're fine. I can't see spending money for sticky labels when half of the thing is a wasted receipt.

The 6" x 6" would be fine for people ordering more than one.

I usually just recycle priority mail boxes I get. I had no idea you had to buy them. I break them down and store them until I need them. When I get too many I send them out with the cardboard to be recycled. I have a ton of packing peanuts too. I put them in garbage bags and store them in the eaves of the garage. Birthdays are October and then there's Christmas so it usually evens out at the end of the year.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks the Post Office occasionally punts a package.

But I think FedEx runs over them with their trucks. Then they drop kick them. (I hate FedEx.)

I have tried about nine times to answer this, but I think the computer is trying to tell me something, because it keeps eating my replies...short answer...I'm NOT paying for sticky labels--they were from UPS. We ship too many packages out of the office to have extra peanuts and stuff, and since DH IS the company, my taking the peanuts we buy for the office is pretty counterproductive in the Susan-not-losing-money-on-baby-Prii effort. The smaller, sturdier, form-fitting boxes will be something on the order of about thirty cents apiece, I think, on first glance at my supplier's website. If people buy 2 cars, I can tape 2 boxes together. If they buy more, well, then I will probably justify liberating some office supplies, or, in fact, using fedex or usps freebie boxes and some stray shredded paper or something. But the things I'm looking at, while certainly not free, will definitely makeit as certain as I can make it that the babies will all be delivered by their storks blemish-free. AND it will also make it take less of my time to send out the, so far, it seems, about 40 or more packages...and time is the one thing I am not charging for!

If anyone knows where I can get good quality free or close to it corrugated shipping boxes of an appropriate size for the cars that measure 5" x 2" x 1.75" do please tell me. As I keep repeating, to bore EVERYONE to death, I think...I am still working out the details--still plenty of time for more input!

Goodnight. REally. Before the 'puter kicks me off again...

EDIT: Wasn't really short, was it...

I want at least two, probably three. Color preferences are driftwood pearl (ok not so likely, but I have to give it a try), silver and black, but I would take whatever colors you get.

I'll be wanting at least 3 of them, please.

Somehat flexible on color choices, but definitely NOT white. Would like to preference at least one in the darker gray color "Tideland Pearl" or "Magnetic Gray" if that's available.

    Thanks!

Okey dokey kiddleywinks, gather 'round GrammaSusan and hear the tale she has to tell...straight from the horse's mouth, or something...And I quote:

    “Toyota Priusâ€

It is 12 pcs in 6 assorted colors in a display box, not an individual packed.

It is always 2 silver, 2 red, 2 white, 2 blue, 2 champagne/driftwood pearl, 2 black assorted in the same display box.

Now, based on the pic that I posted up top of the thread, and looking and looking back and forth between all the color swatches I can find, well, silver, red, white & black are pretty obvious...probably. My guess is that what they are calling blue is sorta kinda Seaside Pearl and champagne is sorta kinda Driftwood Pearl...DRIFTER--you win the prize for being the first to actually ASK for Driftwood Pearl. The prize is my undying gratitude--ya still gotta pay for the car just like everyone else! As to how much, well, I'm getting closer to the total, but numbers are still wavering as more requests come in. It is looking to be somewhere in the vicinity of $10/car plus USPS Priority Shipping, which is $4.05 for up to 1 lb, which MAY be as many as 3 cars, but possibly only 2--I won't know for sure until I have more than ONE car and correct packing materials. Up to 2 lbs, the rate varies depending on your zip code (in relation to mine, I mean), from $4.20 -$6.05. I really DOUBT that even 6 cars would go over 2 lbs, but the next break is betw. 2 & 3 lbs, and that is $5-9.00. It will NOT vary by more than a dollar or two--depending on how much the distributor charges me for shipping, which I won't know until a bit later in the game--while the per car cost may drop fractionally, the shipping charges will not...Is this sounding reasonable, or do I need that poll up?

According to my little list...so far all is well.

My questions are for the following folks, and I sure hope you see 'em, 'cause I really don't want to start PMing everyone just yet. JKASH: No Tideland--any other choice? THEFORCE: 1 red and what is your choice for other? JEANNIE: One or two whites, and one other color at all? HYO_SILVER: You got as much info as everyone else now--do you have enough to make a preliminary decision? XLARIMER: All 6 in white MAY be excessive. Would you be interested in any other color(s) or what is your cutoff if I need some of "your" whites for some others? GODIVA: Other than your 2 black, are you still interested in a red, a white, and a blue, or ...? SKWYRE7: If I can't do two blues for you, which color would you like for the second car? PIRATEPRIUS: Do you want a 3rd car, and if so, what color (PLEASE say champagne  ). ZAMBONI68: Please define "a few for kids and dad" a bit more specifically. DVD: So does each twin get one, and if so, which color(s)? BIFF_DEBRIS: Knock yerself out--no XXXL Brown. Name yer poison...as long as it isn't, well, preferably, not black or white since we have so many folks with quite such strong preferences for those two. ANOLDHOUSE: See above message to biff_debris!

Hit it, gang! I'm gonna try and get some real work done now just for a change of pace...

Estimated cost sounds reasonable. I'm in.
