I’m in the states. The first time it happened I was attempting to set it for 55mph. I can’t remember the exact speed I was going the other times, but since I was on the interstate it was probably between 75 and 80. (Lead foot)

One other possibility - when I was new to my PRIUS, I'd accidentally knocked the dumb button on the end of the stalk while manipulating the stalk, turning it off.

The Motoring Press were in raptures when they reported that TOYOTA have finally got rid of the stalk, and put the controls on the wheel where they belong.

I would suspect the brake light switch if the cruise keeps switching off.

Interesting - mine had a faulty brake light switch - but it came up in the service log, and they replaced it under warranty.

Stands to reason, when you press the brake the cruise cuts off, so if the brake light switch is shorting or maladjusted then the cruise will cut off.

Or the cruise on off switch on the cruise control stalk?

What happened to you? The cruise control cut off?
Your speed must be above 30 mph, IIRC in order to set the speed. I understand it can slow down to a full stop & resume but I have never been brave enough to test that,

This has happened to me a few times, I don't worry about it, I assume the sensor, camera or whatever is sensing something and reacting to it. The technology seems pretty good and I'm sure it'll get better. I drive up and down the American River Canyon almost daily, my results are 200 + mpg going and 60 + returning. That's uphill for about 6 miles and at 1900 feet + in altitude. I also got 112mpg returning, once.

It does do that, exactly. Try it. In the beginning I always kept my right foot perched above the brake pedal jusst in case. Now I have full confidence.

Be brave and give it a go. I've done it quite a few times in traffic jams and it works, but initial Anderson is a bit jerky.

Whatever you do, don't be hesitant and touch the brake or you'll cancel it and crash. You either need to brake for yourself, if you're not confident in the system, or totally let the system brake for you. It does work, albeit a bit heavy/late on the braking sometimes if you're approaching stationary traffic, but works best in slow, stop-start traffic.

Anderson is simply the code word for Acceleration. Why all the fuss? (n)

Mitigate, if not save - depending on your velocity when disarming DRCC.
