There a thing on BBC app about Nissan stopping producing cars in Japan because of their own QA failings. Interested???

That sounds like it would be a new thread.
It has to be better than my last one. No responses & 1 like IIRC.

News makes more sense. They make EVs too, you know. Since it is Autumn, I guess the Leafs are falling... <GROAN>

The delay for the Prime was because of quality problems with the carbon fiber hatch.

None of the links I found mentioned Prime for the US. I remember there were *rumors* that the US Prime would be delayed, but I do not remember any verifiable facts.

The headline to that article also states the stoppage was for a week only.
The factory the Prime is made at was surely one shut down, but a week isn't really enough of a delay to be newsworthy for a single model. The hatch issue resulted in delays of a month to months depending on the market.

sorry, didn't mean to mislead by stating prime. i had just remembered that there was a delay. the point is, could the explosion have lead to doing business (or more business) with kobe, and might that force them to increase production, while failing to maintain quality.

From the Mainichi: "Toyota said in a statement late Thursday that it had confirmed that aluminum plates used in hoods, rear hatches and other components of its vehicles from Kobe Steel met requirements for strength and durability based on data from the company that was "furthest outside of Toyota's specifications."

It said it was still investigating non-aluminum products from Kobe Steel."

But it sounds like Kobe issues started long before that.
