Not every day does a study come along providing optimism that energy access is on a good track for 'least blessed' of humanity. Energizing there could add a slice to international trade. It just might.

All discussion welcome except what which would banish us to PriusChat political place.

We had a similar discussion in the past discussing how a Huntsville based, climate scientists has given testimony about the advantages of fossil fuel energy for Africa. Yet the technology of a wind/solar farm with battery storage is real. Even a greater advantage if coupled with battery storage on cars, trucks, and motorbikes. A distributed power system is scalable without having to build an electrical grid.

our parish has been sponsoring some solar water wells in africa. there is a lot of this going on, and could be applied to cooking and other purposes.

Why not wind powered wells? Those have been around for centuries.

Well, fossil fuels do have uses beyond simply burning them. Which is a good reason to not use them as quickly as possible.
