As a Prius owner, it is essential to have a basic understanding of the heart of the hybrid system, the hybrid-encabulator. Here is a very clear, concise video for new hybrid owners, which explains the hybrid-encabulator in simple terms:

Sorry but the original is better and will be hard to top.

Maybe the auto world is trying to do their versions of the "Hitler bunker meltdown" with the encabulator and we'll see these vids pop up for other cars.

It's really interesting what some people think is "essential".

In my opinion, understanding things like that is NOT in any way "essential" for the average car owner.

Just wait until the first time that you experience excessive sinusoidal repleneration. Believe me, you will be glad that you know that it can be reduced with a simple adjustment of the reciprocation dingle arm!

    OK, I get it.

Not quite as important as the flux capacitor though.

Have "you" reciprocated your dingle arm today?

I can tell you that in at least one of my vehicles, the flux capacitor is much more important that the others.

Ok geeks, let's try to give the proper names for the parts of the hybrid-encabulator. I'll start with the dingle arm - it's a parking pawl.

Those of you who (unnecessarily ;) ) enjoy studying how the Prius works probably recognized most of the parts shown in the hybrid-encabulator video as being from the Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive. I think it's remarkable how well the Prius parts can be used to fit the original text from forty years ago.

    Good idea!
I'll continue with the baseplate of prefamulated amulite - it's the flywheel (probably made of cast iron).

The "malleable logarithmic casing" is a Gen 1 Prius transmission case or casing, so that already is the proper name of the actual Prius part, but with odd adjectives attached.

Unfortunately, I have some friends who would probably find this video and think it was real and point to it as tangible reason to NOT buy a hybrid.

Even if I tell them that it is ridiculous as we all know the base plate is NOT made of prefambulated amulite, but Martinized open mined grade Adamantium.

Oh come on, everybody knows normal flywheels are made from processed Chinese flies. Only the high end cars like the Toyota 86 use Amulite.

I thought it was Spanish flies, or am I thinking of something else?¿
