What kind of warning sound would you want for your car?

I am just glad that the fad here in the south to gave air horns playing Dixie died. Assault indeed!

The queitest ICE cars on the market are quieter than a gen2 Prius. I hear more tire noise from cars going by than engine noise. That doesn't change because of drive train.

 

We have issues in a parking lot with our 2000 Toyota Tundra V8.
People will just walk in front of a big green pickup truck moving at them.

That's been my take on it from the start. It was never about safety: if it were, then the rule would apply to all quiet cars.

We really need to be careful when running our quiet V8 Tundra in a parking lot. People will just walk out in front of it without hearing it apparently.

 

Next they'll have manufacturers install strobe lights for the hard of hearing...

 

Too late, they already do that with emergency services vehicles. See how polite I can be when I really try hard? ​

 

School buses around here have strobes on the roof.

 

Your schoolkid's are that dangerous?

 

Our schoolkids are that nonobservant. The only way to get them to 18 is to put strobe lights on the bus. Then they are someone else's problem.

 

Drivers are non-observant enough to not see a big yellow school bus going slowly or stopped.
