Bought the OEM sticker online, it didn't come with any installation tool. Anyone with experience can share some info?
You install it the same way as you install a clear mask. I just asked my clear mask installer to do it at the same time as he installed the mask. Took him about 5 minutes.
I have not had time to install it yet, but the directions look pretty easy. Instructions attached at the bottom of this post. For the 4” squeegee, I ordered this:
I went to a local dealer to have mine put on (experienced guy there), after I had the bumper polished. Worth the $110. The plaque looks great and feels slick, and not really tacky. It covers most of the bumper. See my pics below.
My dealer had the tint guy put it on as it's a very similar process. I tried to get a good pic but it's difficult to get the right light on the Pearl.
I am finally going to install the OEM bumper protector tomorrow. I'm confused on one step though and am hopeful someone can help before I tackle this tomorrow afternoon. Take a look at Post #3 in this thread the attached instruction sheet from Toyota. I am confused by Step 7 in Toyota's instructions. My understanding after reading the instructions and watching numerous YouTube videos is you are supposed to thoroughly wet the bumper and both sides of the clear plastic film with the water/baby shampoo solution. But if so, what exactly is it Toyota is peeling off in Step 7? There shouldn't be any "coverings" left on the plastic film by that point...so Step 7 is confusing me. Can anyone advise? Thanks! Bryan
I think step 3 is pulling off the bottom film and step 7 is pulling off the top film. My installed pulled them both off before wetting both sides (heavily).
I did not do mine, but I "think" the protector has a side to peel off on the top and bottom. They peel the car side first and the outside last? Can you look at it to see if that's true?
Thanks for trying to help Mark. The OEM part does come with a backing on both sides. I guess where I'm confused is on Toyota's instruction sheet (attached in Post #3) it looks like you are supposed to remove both protector sheets during Step 3. (I assume this to be the case since Step 3 shows "clear plastic film" in the picture.) But then in Step 7 it shows you peeling something back at 180 degrees....but I'm not sure what that is or what that step is for...
To me step 3 only removes the side that mates to the bumper. The remanding side helps keep it stiff and straight while you're getting it placed. Be sure to follow the soap mix based on the ambient temp outside.
Mark, you were right. Step 3 is simply pulling the backside covering away and then thoroughly spraying the back of the protection film with the soapy water solution. The front covering stays on for Steps 4-6 and is designed to help you line it up on the bumper. I installed it today and it was quite easy to do, except for one tiny area with a little air bubble that I can't see to get to go away. Otherwise, it looks perfect! The attachment in Post 3 above shows how's its done, but if anyone has any questions, pease feel free to ask.
I just dropped off my Prime to get the clear bra applied and asked if I could get the appliqué installation included. He said no, it takes an hour and costs $125 (not including the cost of the appliqué) . I pointed out that they will already have my car for a couple of days, could they not just stick it on and include it? He said no, it's extra. I said fine, I'll go elsewhere.
