Demographically, people who identify themselves as "gay" have higher intelligence, higher income, and more education than the average population. And what do you know... they like the same kind of cars we "heteros" like. Maybe gay people aren't so scary after all.

At one point one of the major mags said the Mini Cooper was the gay man's car of choice.

No Passat? Last I heard, the Passat was the quintessential gay man's car, and the Subaru Outback was the lesbian ride of choice.

I know a few gay men who drive Passats and Audi A4's. (Same car).

Before the Mini Cooper, it was the 3-series BMW. I had owned a medium blue 2003 330Ci at one time but didn't buy it for that reason. It was just a nice-looking, good-handling, relatively fast sports coupe. I don't much like the new 3-series, or any other current, Bangle-styled BMW.

For lesbians, I had also heard that the Subaru Outback was the preferred vehicle of choice.

Does anyone want to know HOW I found this?

Every once in a while I do a yahoo news search for Prius. This was one of the articles. (I was actually looking for one a few days ago on environmentally friendly vehicles.)

And this organization is for GLBT which I have learned means, Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transexual or Transgender. That means these cars are not just gay cars but the top ten cars this demographic favors. I didn't go to the website to read further but apparently they have a top 20 list. Maybe some of the missing models are still in the top 20.

BTW in my Community they recruit Gay couples to buy homes. It raises property values to have an owner occupied home that has been fixed up and has a pristine curb appeal. That is more likely to happen with Gay homeowners.

If anything, wouldn't the prius be a 'bi' car?

Oooooh, but it was so much more fun imagining how you came across it!

By the way, I used to have a dog that looked just like yours (unfortunatley she was taken by a brain tumor around age 7) ! Her name was Amiga...and everytime I see yours it makes me smile! :D

I had a gay friend in college who shared an observation that a lot of gay guys (including him) seemed to own red Toyota hatchbacks. I guess that might apply to the red Prius.

Now that's gay, not that there's anything wrong with that! I would say it's a metro sexual car. BTW, anyone have a copy of the movie "Beaches" I could borrow? :D

Funny, if certain people were to start a thread like this, there'd be a lot of pissing and moaning going around...

    Here's a real GAY car:

    The Mercedes C230 coupe...

...if you're a guy, and driving this thing around with a neat haircut, bright colored Polo shirt, khakis, and boat shoes, you WILL get hit on by guys...

Yeah, because those types have a greater need to "prove" themselves. Those are typically the "in your face" types who go on the offensive and try to make hetero's feel inferior...

    Of course it's not a gay car. It's a lesbian car. :p

The gaywheels list is yet another example of foolishly merging vastly different markets.

Squid, I'm sorry you feel inferior. Perhaps counseling could help?
