Is there one ? This is in a '17 C but I'm posting it here under the assumption that the GPS functions the same in all of the current models.......or at least nearly the same.
Have checked the manuals? Nav... https://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/omnav-s/OM52J12U/pdf/OM52J12U.pdf Owners... https://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/om-s/OM52J11U/pdf/OM52J11U.pdf
Yes I have both of those. And I can read. Are you telling me that it is IN one or both of those manuals and I missed it (which is quite possible) ? Or are just wasting time because you don't know the answer either ??
Actually helping would be telling me the answer. OR.....giving me a reference that is a little more specific than "Look through about 300 pages in two manuals and see if it MIGHT be in there."
The UK version may be different but there is a side button on the map screen, below the zoom magnifier, from memory it has a X on it, touch to mute and again to regain the voice.
Something like that is what I would suspect........and it is present on the other 6 or so units I've had in the past. But on the new C, no such animal. I just went out and looked. The magnifier buttons are on the very bottom left corner; nothing below them. Thanks for trying though. Maybe not putting this question in the C sub-forum was a mistake.
I havs been looking for a way to mute the GPS when a phone call comes in for almost 2 years. Not sure if I would feel better or worse to learn there is actually a practical way to do so...
On my Excel trim with the JML headunit there is a row of 5 icons on the right hand side of the screen and the middle one is a mute button - small speaker with a cross next to it. If you press it the icon goes red and mutes the commands.
I have a 2017 Prius Four Touring with the convenience package. When you have an active destination set with navigation an option menu is displayed at the top of the navigation app. If you select the menu you can choose "pause guidance". The route guidance is paused completely - no audio or visual guidance. You can re-select option to then "resume guidance". Your active destination is not deleted. I find this helpful for hands free phone conversations since the navigation audio is not paused for a phone call as it is when you use navigation on a phone. I have not yet explored whether you can mute audio guidance completely but maintain visual guidance and have hands free audio for a phone call. I have just had my car for a week.
That's cool @Priscilla , now maybe a good time to update your profile to reflect that. You do it by clicking your name near the right hand edge just below the Prius Chat banner at top of the page.
Perfect! I am feeling dumb, but will feel much better the next time my boss calls while I am using Nav in the car!!!
After further exploration I have discovered that you can go to general settings for the car, select voice, and turn voice guidance off completely for navigation. Then, while you are in the navigation app with a destination set, you will get visual guidance without audio. If you want audio there is an icon at the bottom of the screen that, when touched, will give you audio each time but does not turn audio back on. For that you would need to go back to the voice settings. Also, in voice settings is where you can adjust the volume for audio guidance in the navigation app. It's not all especially user friendly. I have spent a lot of time in the car since I got it trying to figure out all the settings with the manual in hand. I'm just like that.
[QUOTE="Priscilla, post: 2631624, member: 5805" It's not all especially user friendly. A well designed piece of equipment should NOT require the manual to figure out any of it's basic features. And I consider muting the GPS voice guidance a very basic feature. BAD DESIGN.
