Dynamic Cruise Control is a winner in a stop and go highway traffic. Safety features are awesome. While the loser is that system reboots itself while driving and I am not sure why? So far this reboot has happened only once in the past 4 days.

Haven't had the infamous reboot happen (yet) in the seven weeks I've had my car. I also don't have a smartphone connected either, so that might have something to do with it. So far, it has been everything good, and nothing bad.

After a month of Prime ownership and 2500 miles of driving with four fill-up and daily charge-up, even with cracked windsheild and tiny cargo, still LOVING it! So far, the ride comfort and driving feel are excellent. The gas milage is superb. The first real test for this car is going to be when it gets cold. I will see how it will handle brutal NE winter.

Purchased my Prime Premium (Blue Magnetism with the two toned leather interior) on June 13, so almost 5 months in now. The odometer will hit 22,000 miles this week.

I drive about 1k per week commuting to and from work. (80 miles each way to work, 5 days a week, plus side travel for fun / chores)

I spend about $40.00 per week in gas (2 fill ups) and charge the car every night when I get home.

What I'd like to see addressed:
    1) Entune sucks. I've given up trying to use it and just bluetooth everything and control the apps from my phone.
    2) The Navigation needs to allow passengers to update the destination while the car is moving. Went on a trip with my wife Labor Day weekend and she couldn't use the screen to change our destination. The car is smart enough to know when someone is in the passenger seat... make the apps smart enough.
    3) The heating / cooling is based off of temperature but it helps to know the temp INSIDE the car to make adjustments.. and of course all we can see is the temp outside.
    4) Why can't we see the rest of the controls while in reverse... The backup camera can take over the navigation portion of the screen but let me or my passengers tweak the temperature settings or the radio while I sit at the end of my drive waiting to back out.

Also tip for you EZPass users, don't put it where they tell you (Up by the rear view mirror) you'll get tons of bad reads. I'm still trying to figure out the best place to stick it. May need a license plate tag instead.

I love the car, its comfortable and feels great to drive.

I've done some "Commando Charging" (charging for free at random, accessible outlets) at the San Diego Marriott Marquis hotel, and now at the Lake Forest Sports Park (where my son occasionally plays soccer), with the blessing of facility reps. These experiences are particularly fun because they provide "free power" in a convenient manner for my car!! America, what a country!!

Love/Hate. I like sports cars. I like acceleration. I like horsepower. I like manual transmissions. I also drive 120 miles per day to go to work and absolutely love the mpg and regular gas. The Prime can't get out of its own way and almost seems dangerous with the lack of acceleration, driving near NYC, but overall I would buy it again. The Prime is a huge step up from our older Prius also!

Welcome to Prius Chat. You mentioned EZPass transponder not being read. I haven't had problem with mine placed right on the black front facing camera box up by the rear view mirror. I recently replaced my old transponder with dead battery with a new one, so yours may be just need a new battery too.

I remember reading that you need to avoid the black shaded area around the mirror. Here is what the Gen 4 manual says.

It says "in front of the camera sensor". I think it means you don't want to obscure the camera lens by anything on the windshield in the shaded area. I affixed my EZ pass onto the black plastic camera sensor body INSIDE of the car. The transponder is not meant to be affixed outside of the car. It works fine on the dashboard, but if I keep it there, it may melt in hot sunny day.

You're driving way, way, way too aggressively if you think the Prime is dangerously slow. I've driven vehicles with 0-60 times from 6 to 36 seconds. My first car was an 80 Corolla with 75HP being driven at high altitude. 0-60 was in the mid 17s and it was horrendously unresponsive. Still managed to merge and do everything else without issue. My drive to work includes going from 0-55 from a light on a 7% grade. I find myself almost never at full throttle in the Prime, and that's almost 100% Ev mode.

I acquired my Advanced on 3/20/17 and, long story short, still love it. I’m not really into cars, but this is without a doubt my favorite car I’ve ever owned. My last tank lasted over 3 months and 2000 miles, and got 224 mpg. I’ve filled the tank 3 times after getting a full tank from the dealer.

I have an approximately 22 mile one way drive to work. It is between 300 and 400 ft. uphill going to work, and I do most of the drive at 75 mph. In warm weather I get all the way to work on a full charge, in cold weather I fall 3-5 miles short. I always get home on a full charge, although I only gain access to one of the charging stations there about 60% of the time.

I had a scare last night...no charge at work. The tank was getting low and the car said that I had 32 gas miles left. In theory I should have gotten home with 10 miles to spare. Well, I had to divert to a gas station after about 15 miles and pulled in with 2 miles left on the tank. Do not trust that indication. When the fuel light comes on, make a bee line to the nearest gas station.

    Love my Prime!

Your explanation aside, when I read "Commando Charging" I could just envision some hairy butt guy, rear view, no pants, crawling out of his Prime to plug it in.:cautious: Fortunately, the vision ends and that point.:p This is one time when pics do NOT make the post better.:D

I've had my Prime Advanced for almost 2 months, and I still love it. I have 850 or so miles on it. I drive 7 miles one way to work (I cringe at some of ya'll's commutes!) and can get to work and back on the battery, and even stop on an errand or two. This morning was my first experience with the ICE kicking in to defrost my windshield, since we had snow this morning. The car drives differently when the gas engine is in use, I have discovered. I prefer the smooth electric engine! I love the dynamic cruise control, I just wish I could set it a little lower (Downtown is 20 MPH, I'd like to be able to set it at 23 - can't rely on other cars because lots of folks speed through there anyway....). I could pay more attention to the things going on around me if I didn't have to watch my speed so closely!

Yes, enjoying that feature too. Haven't had it since my 1960 cadillac sedan de ville. I guess not everything changes in 57 years. LOL

CO seems much more chill than the east coast lol.

I had a smart fortwo 1.0. 0-60 in 13 seconds. There was an onramp near my place where I cannot safely accelerate to the flow of traffic (I can't even accelerate to the speed limit). I would classify that as dangerously slow.

I've tried different things - carrying as much speed as I dare going into the onramp (from the overpass... you'd think the downhill would help), keeping the revs up, shifting late (shifted near the redline for both 3rd and 4th gear).

Best I could do was 80km/h (50mph). The limit was 100km/h (62mph) while the flow would be 110-120km/h (68-75mph). I think you would agree that the speed difference is great enough to be a hazard.

    Cannot unsee

I also love the instant responsiveness and feel of driving in EV mode. The DRCC is nice and yes, a low setting of 28 mph is irritating. We have several extended drives that are 25 mph and heavily patrolled. I miss being able to use the cruise on them.

I get passed by everything on the road, beeped at, tailgated. I assure you I'm not driving aggressively. I couldn't if I wanted to. I'm not an aggressive driver in general. I don't zip around people, I stay in the same lane, etc.

My main issue is likely that I haven't taken the car out of eco mode. Ever. And seeing red on the monitor makes me crazy. I drive like a turtle. The old Prius doesn't give you the eco option. It feels like a sports car in comparison.

When it comes down to it, I'll take limited acceleration to have mpg maximized. If you give me eco mode, I'll take eco mode.
