For all you "greenies" out there I am the ultimate sign that your Prius world has been rocked. I bought a VW Toureag 3 years ago for the accelerated tax break (gross vehicle carrying weight over 6,000 lbs) and started significantly consuming more resources, 15mpg average. The car is nice but major repair prone and it dawned on me I better dump it before it comes off warranty or I'm dead. A buddy had a Prius on order, filled me in on the tax break, I cranked on the annual savings in gas at 3 bucks a gallon...I'm sold before I drove it. My 23 year old engineer son believes it is unacceptable from a looks stand point (his comment is unprintable but you can guess) and is concerned that I will suddenly start eating granola, driving 55 in the left lane, put a Kerry sticker on the back and/or move to Boulder.

I seriously doubt I am going to pulse and glide, but I don't want to underestimate my ability to obsess on saving money. Time will tell.

The dealership called yesterday and the Driftwood has my name on it and is supposed to arrive 7-28 to 8-8. They have been very good. MSRP plus 349.00 dealer prep. By the way Pedersen Toyota in Ft collins said they couldn't guarantee the 9-30 delivery a month ago. Ehrlich said no sweat, how can they live in such different worlds, 30 miles apart?

Welcome! You're going to love your Prius. We just relocated from MA to, uh, Boulder. I've never seen so many Prii in my life! I did see a lot when living in the Northeast, but yesterday I saw 7 on my three mile commute home. And I probably missed some.

As for dealerships, we found the same principle to be true in MA/NH. Dealers within 20 or 30 miles of each other had vastly different approaches to sales and abilities to get a Prius. Sounds like Greeley was the place to go. Good to know, in case we decide to get a 2006!

By the way, do you also know about the CO tax credit? It's even a little larger than the federal credit, so you end up getting something like $6500 total.

Thanks for the welcome. I do know about the state tax credit. Actually I was shocked that the dealerships weren't going way over MSRP because of it. It must fry them that we are getting 6500 off purchase price in Colorado and they can't get their hands on it.

    Mateo,

I too am in Loveland, Colorado and we ordered almost the same time (11 days apart) from the same dealer! I test drove one at Ehrlich in Greeley and ordered a Seaside Pear package 8 on May 27. I too just got a call from (Kent) the dealer yesterday and was told to expect mine July 31 to August 11. I'm not sure why 12 days of uncertainty on something only 2-3 weeks away. I know when I ordered mine that I was told I was #2 on the list for a package 8 with Ehrlich and I asked for only the Seaside Pearl but willing to take either color interior. I was just told yesterday that my interior will be the Bisque color.

Like you I also talked to Pederson and they quoted me the same 2.5 to 3 month wait. I went to Greeley because they were more willing take time to talk with me in a serious way about buying the car, let me test drive a used 2005 rental unit they had, and they only wanted $500 deposit where Pederson wanted $1000.

I will look forward to seeing your Prius around town! Take care.

    Tom

Geez, a definite rookie here, I can't even post correctly.

Anyway great to here from you Tom, sounds like we are on the same schedule for delivery. "Joe" called me yesterday and said lately the actual delivery has been earlier than they have quoted, It seems like two months ago I never gave the vehicle two thoughts and now it's a major issue with a lot of my friends. One just bought a used 2003 from a friend at work who was going overseas, he also has now put a 2006 on order. Another signed up a week after me at Erhlich's, got a call from Chad Tuesday and has a Silver #4 in his garage as we speak. He may buy another one for his daughter. We verified with our accountant that the tax break is per vehicle and no limits on a per family basis. Maybe I'll see you at the dealership when they come in.

Mateo - thanks for the reply. I see you got your second choice of Driftwood. Do you know the interior color? What about dealer add-ons? I plan to have the 3M Clear Bra put on as I'm told the fronts are easy targets of taking stone hits. After reading all the tire stories here on PC, I've also thought about taking it from Ehrlich to our Goodyear dealer downtown and see if I can get a trade in on the new Integreties for the Comfortreads if he will do it.

Thanks for the input on the tax break. I was not certain on any family limits so appreciate the info. I'm thinking seriously about telling Ehrlich when I pick up my new one to maybe call me if they get any cancelled buyers on short notice to call me for possible immediate purchase on another Prius before 10-01 for my kids as my kids are driving a gas guzzler right now! Colorado is so generous on the tax credit too!

Interior is beige. The friend with the silver #4 is coming over at 4 today and I planned on asking about the whole final purchase scene. Warranty pressure, add-ons, etc.. I will post back any info that seems relevant.
The other friend with the used 2003, i couldn't believe the front of his car, it was majorly chewed up. So I too am thinking about the bra. Any info on costs and who does it?

Thanks! Just fyi, Erhlich's didn't have any addons, offered the extended warranty and backed off when my friend said no thx. Very smooth.

Well my salesman did mention they could have the 3M clear Bra put on. He said some guy from Denver is scheduled one or two days a week to do them for the dealership and I could go that route. Cost was not bad but don't remember what it was and he also recommended the Toyota wheel locks as he claimed 7 new Prius after offloaded from the train cars were waiting in Denver in the lot for the auto carrier to drive them to Greeley and all 7 were sitting on blocks minus the wheels! I'm not sure if that is a problem here in Loveland however. He also mentioned about the 3M bra material, the standard job is on the hood, back of mirrors, and under door handles. I asked about adding the whole front bumper area and he said that would be negotiated by me with the guy who does it and more $$. He also mentioned something their dealership offers called a "Colorado Package" that is mostly the 3M job and all window tint that I remember and was like $700 (ouch). I was under the impression the Prius already has the heavy solar absorbant glass so not sure additional tint is required here. I do plan to buy the side moldings shown here on PC, already ordered the Covercraft windshield cover at:

    http://www.autoanything.com/driving-access...0A1228A0A0.aspx

and used the 10% off coupon code for it on PC here. I'm also looking at the Nav Enhancement kit from Coastaletech and I also plan to do the factory EV button install myself. I have no plans at this time to buy the warranty stuff either.

As a ham radio guy, I also plan at some point, to put a tri-band mobile antenna on the hatch area for VHF/UHF about 36 inches tall.

    Take care.

Mateo, just a heads up but I was on Ehrlich's web site Sunday and I was looking at their "inventory" of new Prius they show and saw my ordered Prius listed with my VIN number, color, and MSRP. I was last told to expect July31-August 6 for delivery so I think we are very close. I also saw what I believe is your Driftwood listed too so you may want to look at it. Yours I think is stock #65567 and shows the MSRP.

Another interesting note is the MSRP shown for my car on Ehrlich's web site is $235 more than shown on Toyota's web site. It would appear that the $235 is equal to Ehrlich automatically adding the Toyota Prius floor mats ($186) and cargo net ($49) on top of the car MSRP without choice, at least on my MSRP. I'll be curious if they do the same for you!

Did you receive delivery yet? I'm still waiting. I checked with some tire guys and they wouldn't give me much since they can't sell the integrities as new. I think I'm just going to wait to upgrade to the TT's in a larger size until I use up the old. I bought the BT Stifening plate and the mudflaps which are just sitting here waiting for my car. My friend who got his two weeks ago is very happy except about stability feel at high speeds and on some grooved pavement. I think the plate should help.

Anchor glass here in town will do the window tint (30%) and 3m bra (no bumper, 18 inches and they are certified) for a combo of around 400.00 That is much cheaper than the dealer.

    Mateo,

I called yesterday (Monday) to Ehrlich and they expected my Prius any day. Since I was scheduled to be out of town in the middle of the week (Wed&Thurs) my sales person suggested that we get all the sale paper work out of the way. On Monday afternoon I was at Ehrlich's buying the car "on paper" so all I need is to bring the check for the car and go when it arrives. Well as I was getting ready to leave the dealer, the auto carrier arrived with my Prius on it!!! It was just beautiful to see there! :D

I said no to the tint/bra job at first so they said "because it was the last day of the month", they offered me $100 off their "Colorado Package" which is the full legal tint plus 3M bra on the front hood, plus 3M bra under the door handles, and back of side mirrors with full 3 year warranty on all tint and bra. I really did not want to drive the car off the lot without protection and have it stone damaged on the way to another 3M bra vendor so I was tempted. I then looked at their tint and bra job on another Toyota on the lot and the bra install and tint looked very good, much better than most tint jobs I see so I told them to do it for the $495 (Reg $595). I left the car there as they have to do the dealer prep on it and the Denver guy does the Tint/Bra jobs on Mondays and Wednesdays so he will do it this Wednesday while I'm gone. I will be home on Friday morning the 4th to pick up the car.

If you have time this week, you may want to stop by Ehrlich's and ask to see one of their tint and Bra jobs, in fact mine will be be there until Friday morning. If you like their Bra and Tint job I think you could talk him into the $100 off. Point to my blue Prius there and tell them you want the same deal as me if you like it. Mine is scheduled for the Bra/Tint job Wednesday morning so you could talk to the guy who does it if you had questions while doing mine. Does the Loveland guy include the back of the side mirrors and under door handles? Ehrlich claims paint wear under the door handles and stone/bug damage to back of mirrors with time thus included with their bra job.

Like you I went to the Goodyear dealer on 3rd street this week and asked about the Confortreads or TT but like you he did not want to give me anything for the stock tires so I too will probably run the standard tires. If I decide they are just really bad, I can always pull them and buy the Comfortreds or TT at SamsClub and sell the others used myself.

I did see a Driftwood Prius at Ehrlich's too but it was not yours. It was a almost new, very mild hail damaged Prius from Kansas, that they plan to clean up and sell repaired and used. You had to look close to see the dents on the top surfaces. I doubt it had many miles on it as it looked brand new! For my own equipment options, I bought the good UV sun shield, ordered the side body protection strips, and ordered a Prius MFD hood that is on Ebay from the Michigan Prius guy who sells them. As I mentioned in my earlier post, my MSRP sticker had the added Prius Mats and cargo net.

After seeing the car Monday, I can't wait now until Friday morning. I was almost hoping to get sick so I could stay home from my trip and get my Prius after the tint/bra work done this Wednesday.

Take care and keep in touch! Best wishes. Tom

just got called and I am going over to pick it up this afternoon. Thanks for all the tips and help. For others who might read this thread, Ehrlich's said 8 to 10 weeks on the day of my order which was 6-7-06, today is obviously 8-3-06, pretty doggone accurate estimate. I guess if you are scrambling for the full tax credit at least what was said in the past was honest.
