    Hello Everyone,

My '05 Prius has over 200,000 miles on it and the headlight assemblies have a lot of wear and pitting. I have already taken the car to a body shop and they "polished" out the pitting as well as they could but they are still pretty sad... So, I am considering replacing them. Used is preferred but new and even aftermarket is acceptable. The only thing is these are HID headlamps and all I find on the Internet are assemblies for NON HID headlamps.

    Your suggestions are greatfully appreciated!

    Thanks!

When your say the body shop polished them did they also wetsand prior to polishing? Wetsanding is required to gets, the deep gouges out.

I 'veseen hid spec housings on ebay but they are kind of rare. Rockauto.com may sell them also. The other option is to purchase a projector kit and install that into a nonhid housing and just transfer your oem ballast to the new setup. It's more work but it's much better than oem hids in the prius.

New housings are around $250 per side at Toyota online parts counters: partznet.com, championtoyotaparts.com, parts.com, etc. Many of the salvage ones on car-part.com have broken tabs but the asking price is still $100-$300 bucks, including bulb and ballast. One approach would be to buy new, and try to recoup a few bucks by selling the old ones on ebay. The housings are rare enough that somebody trying to fix some front end damage would probably buy them.

Just bought a 2005 prius touring with HID Assemblies heavily worn. Will these work?

Will any Halogen Assembly kit with HID bulbs work?
