Rush on HOV-lane permits for hybrids
Car-pool allocations nearly all snapped up

    Excerpts:

"The explosive interest in hybrid vehicles - brought on by higher gas prices resulting from seasonal refinery changes and the escalating turmoil in the Middle East - has nearly exhausted a year-old program permitting solo hybrid drivers in car-pool lanes...

'We are very surprised. We knew it would promote people to buy hybrids but we didn't expect them to go through these 75,000 decals this fast,' said Josh Townsend, spokesman for Assemblywoman Fran Pavley, D-Woodland Hills, who authored the legislation in 2004 that created bumper sticker permits."

    I DID!

The final piece of the puzzle to my plan is falling into place . . . :D

I have a Prius and I have the stickers – although I never applied them to the car as I really don't need them.

    The plan:
    1) When the stickers run out, sell my Prius down in LA for more than MSRP - since the Prius is in short supply and it would come complete with the stickers which are no longer available.
    2) Buy me a new Prius.

P.S. I'm not really planning on doing this, but I think at the time it would be highly doable . . . and if the price of gas goes above $4/gallon I think an eBay auction would get me the highest price. :D

How do you do that when the specific HOV sticker is assigned to a particular person AND vehicle??

Just be sure to sell before 2008 in case they don't extend the HOV access.

Gee, the time to do it would have been when you could still get that nice, fat $3,100 tax credit.

You STILL get the tax credit until the end of September, and then it goes down certain percentage each quarter until it's done.
