Doh. Foot in mouth. Sure would have been nice for OP to include just a few more relevant details of who the mechanic was (Name and/or company). Seems like you got a chuckle out of it.

Consider adding "pre-purchase" Prius vehicle inspection fee as another revenue opportunity? Maybe $150-come to you, and $225-you drive to them upto a certain distance away. I'm sure you can figure out what the fee would be, that the market will pay.

Hope OP paid ZERO for the car.

There was a member on here that had a seized transaxle on his 2008. Was fine and one day it seized while driving. Engine would not start but car would go READY for a few seconds. Car had 160k miles.

Towed it Avi's shop in Los Angeles and he put in a used transaxle for $1500.

"Transmission locked up" reminds me of a Prius I worked on many years ago... This is what the transmission fluid looked like, bearings inside the transmission failed due to lack of lubrication.

Hey Texas I have never rotated the crank on my G2 by hand.

Should you be able to turn the crank freely on a good G2? Or is it very difficult but still able to turn? And which way does it turn to check CW or CCW?

    Thanks.

Yes you can turn the Prius crankshaft from the pulley/belt it turns a bit pretty easily but then gets harder do to engine compression. With just a ratchet it should be pretty easy to turn it all the way around. With just your hands it’s not easy.

From the front pulley engine turns clockwise as most of engines do.
