In theory, E0 should get slightly more than 3% better MPG than E10. In practice, considering the quite variable fuel consumption patterns of real life and the non-unbiased 'testing' of common consumers, claims vary considerably.

Because E0 is scarce in most areas, and it it serves a niche market (including people who need no-ethanol fuel for reasons unrelated to MPG), the price difference normally exceeds the theoretical MPG difference.

I couldn't care less. +60 MPG in HV mode is plenty good. Here in Minnesota, we've been pushing for 20 years to get ethanol grown (a variety of plant sources) & produced (refinery powered by waste material, like saw dust) using local resources. So, the political issues elsewhere aren't reflective of our efforts.

#0: I monitor coolant temp in ICE by a Scangauge II mounted right in front of steering wheel. I used movable doors to block lower grill to keep temps up in Virginia winters, and have found by experience that doors can be kept closed except high Summer or when climbing mountain grades. Just FYI.
#1: If the car does not consume oil and is otherwise sound and you simply like the way it drives and feels, I would consider cramming it with junk and driving to Alaska.
#2: Not sure about towing, but if some of your junk is bulky but light, you might consider installing a small towing hitch, but then plugging one of those rectangular wire mesh platforms luggage platforms into the receiver rather than a trailer. Keep only light junk on that platform and the heavier junk in car to keep your Center of Gravity within bounds. Please also consider total allowed Gross Weight for the Prius C and try to keep within that limit for your total load for safety's sake. (Note: backing up a trailer is particularly tricky until you get the knack!)
#3: Doable, but expensive as you may get a stiff one-way penalty on the rented U-Haul--watch out for that. Also more of a chore to drive than just dodging the potholes in your C!
#4: Least stress but you may not get a car like your C up there. Before doing 4, please check carefully the used car prices up in Alaska. If you plan to go off-pavement a lot, the C might not be best as it would take a beating . Then maybe consider selling the C , flying to Anchorage, and getting a 4-wheel drive car of some type?
PS: If he is available , Spider-Man is both a true gentleman and would have unique info about the conditions in Anchorage, including info about the local Toyota dealer perhaps .
Good luck and hope this helps!

Hello tgpii your friendly neighboorhood Spider Man here. If I was in the same boat, I would probably sell the C. If your doing any highway driving I would recommend something larger. Plenty of Cs up here but most are people living in town and don't venture out much in the winter. Also the winter is really rough on the hybrids in the winter if parked outside. I probably wouldn't have gotten one if I didn't have a garage.
If you have any other question feel free to ask.
