    Hello,

I'm looking at purchasing a used 2013 Prius. In Toyota servicing summary, the car had underwent a head gasket replacement due to an oil leak. The car is at 75k miles.

Is this common and should this be a concern when buying a Prius?

I'm wondering, could it in fact be timing chain cover gasket redo. That's a common oil leak issue. There's a big cover down the side, at the passenger side of the engine, with a really tricky sealing regimen, and there's been a few reports of oil leaks. Dealerships were charging around $1700 to remedy that. It's debatable if it needs to be done, it's expensive (out of warranty) and due to difficult access may actually cause more harm, better to just leave it be.

Head gasket failure, you'd be getting reports of coolant loss (maybe?), engine performance off, shaking, not sure what all.

getting more common in the 2010's over 100k, but surprising in a 2013 with 75k. i would definitely do a lot of research before buying.

    Hi Razz!
I would say that is very unusual bellow 100k but possible.
    Mine gave up on 175k.
I did swap engine due to less hassle and cost. Got one under 50k miles.
Do some more research on the car or look for one bellow 50k.
Ask the seller who did the job and what did it cost him/her.
Head gasket job in the Dealer is well over $2000 .
