2012 prius engine replacement

    I would get the ability to read the codes so you can diagnose the issues;).

    Could something else be an issue after replacing an engine? Possibly. Without reading the codes, you’ll be flying blind.

    While it seems that might be the only issue, something else could be present.

    Well the code is a p0a80. But I read somewhere that it takes a better reader to decipher that code as there is 2 parts to it.. How true that is I don't know.

    OK guys a new problem has risen. Sometime during this fiasco I pulled out the injectors to make sure they were clean and popped them back in not thinking much of it. Well now they are leaking pretty bad. I did a little research here and read about how they can be tricky to install without leaks. I plan on running to the dealership today(in a different vehicle of course) and picking up some new o-rings. Is there any tricks I need to know about when doing this? I seen where someone said that the o rings probably need a spot of lube for proper installation to prevet the o-rings from rolling.what type of lube would be best? I don't want to get something that will deteriorate the o-rings although I'd have to guess they are pretty chemical resistant. Any advice appreciated(unless said advise is to take it to a mechanic...lol.. Not happening).

    When I've had injectors restored in the past by Rich at cruzinperformance.com, he sends them back with new o-rings already lubed. You could maybe ask him what he uses.

    It's not just about the lube; there's definitely technique involved. The manual goes out of its way to illustrate a specific twisting motion, repeated twice: once on first inserting the injectors to the fuel rail, and again when bolting the rail down. People often are tempted to scoff at steps shown in the manual, but these are not the steps I'd recommend to scoff at. More here.

    Thanks chap. Would you happen to know the part number or name for the seal where the injector goes into the head? I got the number(9030107037) for the o-rings on the fuel rail end. The dealer wanted 6 bucks a piece for them suckers..lol..looks like I can get the same ones on ebay for 2.75.

    While the dealership was trying to rip me off on o-rings I decided to get a quote on a new battery. I was pleasantly surprised at the price.. He quoted me 2600 for a new battery. I'm wondering if this is with or without the core. I didn't think to ask. I haven't got a chance to call Ericbecky yet but hopefully today. It almost doesn't seem worth spending 1500 on a refurbished one when you can get a new one for 1000 more.

    Well I called a different dealership and he quoted me 100 bucks less. And that price is after the core.

    IF you are DIY talk to @2k1Toaster and get a kit of brand new cells for $1500 including shipping for continental US. You get to keep the core too.
    Toyota's new battery warranty is 1 year if you DIY and 3 years dealer installed. There is usually a $1350 core charge, IIRC.

    To be fair, @2k1Toaster's battery is brand new and field testing has commenced a few months ago. Toyota's battery, on the other hand, is 100% proven with a decade of field testing and thousands of vehicles. I wouldn't recommend his battery if you're not comfortable with electronics testing and repair.

    True, but at least one tester has monitored the battery for over 1000 miles with absolutely no issues.

    This was an interesting thread that seemed to die before we got all the details. @acp380 - did you end up replacing the hybrid battery and getting the fuel injector issue fixed? Any other details to share about this project?
