I parked my 2007 Prius, turned it off, got out, and when I put my foot on the ground I heard a noise like something dropped out of my engine onto the pavement. When I looked I found this part on the ground under the front of the car near the driver's side wheel: It's black plastic, has "HMI" and "Made in USA" printed on it, and looks designed to allow fluid to flow through it. It contains a small ball held in place with a wire, with some orange-colored residue inside. After some fruitless Google searches, I decided to post here. Do you think this fell out of my Prius, or is it unrelated?
Can you confirm if its kinda have some oil stained on em? I want to know if its something not related to the hydraulics of the car
Approximately how long is it? Photos do not give much size perspective. It looks like it has an O ring or gasket on top and a spring loaded pin below. Since the Prius was made in Japan, I would be surprised to find US made parts in it unless something had been replaced.
It has outside plastic threads on both ends, and the bottom end has a plastic collar screwed onto the plastic threads. I don't see any inside threads.
