I got my spare setup for $100 and I picked it up at the local salvage yard ;).

This was a couple of years ago, so that’s a great price(y).

If your car can be idle for an extra day, I'd just clean the one you have. It's maybe 8~10 hours extra, doing OxyClean soaks.

I appreciate the attraction though, having everything ready in advance.

    Yeah your call.

Here is what I did. Just find an EGR auction with "Make Offer" button and give some decent/fair offer and you should be able to get one. I got mine for $75 for Cooler+Valve. I don't think there is a big market for EGR cooler except us here from PC. :)
I'd guess, $50 shipped for just EGR Cooler and $70 shipped for EGR Cooler+Valve should be possible and reasonable. You can always low ball and see if anyone bites too. :)

Went ahead a placed an order on Amazon today for the above special tools needed to do the IM, EGR valve, EGR Cooler cleaning jobs. Thank you all for your tool recommendations.

I also purchased an used EGR valve/cooler assembly for $85 (free shipping) on ebay. Plan is to give it a thorough cleaning before installing it. Hopefully this will prevent the Prius from being laid down for more than a day.

I’m sure if the opportunity presents itself you’ll be able to show @Bay Stater how much fun it can be;).

    How’s the weather out there:whistle:?

My old man said it was snowing in their neck of the woods yesterday and he was shoveling snow:(.

Good thing they’ll be headed out here tomorrow for 10 days(y).

If you just clean what you've got problem solved. It is not hard. The valve cleaning: 10~15 minutes with brakeclean or carb cleaner. The cooler: start with the previous, then go to hot OxiClean solution soaks, 5~6 hour long soaks and it'll be sparkling new. :D

FWIW, in my notes I've got:

    VALVE ASSY, EGR p/n: 25620-37110

    Cooler, EGR p/n: 25601-37010

Is the OxiClean solution just a couple scoops in a bucket with hot water?

    In theory ;).

But I spent over a week with Oxi clean hot water soaks using plugs to keep the hot water in the cooler with no avail:cool:.

But 5 minutes with the pressure washer got it nice and clean:).

Good luck and keep us posted (y).

Was the pressure washer after Oxi Clean had loosened everything up? ;)

That’s one way to look at it. Now if I hadn’t cleaned about a dozen of them, I might be inclined to agree;).

But I’ve seen varying degrees of deposits and condition over the coolers and the hot Oxi clean isn’t time effective. Too much messing for me and too long to deal with it:cool:.

But it may work in specific situations, I just like one that works in all of them(y).

It's a good idea, but I'm not sure their business model will catch on. Between slow Oxi-Clean soaks and fast pressure washer assaults, we've got it sorted? Good to know though, someone's thinking about it.
