    Hi all,

I am generally an over-shopper that researches and hunts for months if not years before pulling the trigger on a car. Clearly, I did not do that this time. The wife and I had recently discussed consolidating a few of our spare cars down to a Prius and clearing out some room in the driveway. Well, I did just that last night.

I had seen a 2012 Prius Two with 78k at a dealership about an hour away and decided to go take a look. This was going to be not only the first Prius I was looking at in my shopping, but the first Prius I had driven. As you would expect, that car was sold by the time I got there, but they had a 2011 with 33k on the lot. Drove it, liked it, bought it. My question is, "is it a Two or Three?" It was listed as a Prius Two, but it has Bluetooth, Sat Radio, Nav, CD changer, and backup camera.

My other goal is to get some positive reinforcement that I got a decent deal and made a wise purchase. To be gauche, here are the specifics of my deal:

    • Traded in 2004 Volvo S60 2.5t with 122k with issues, got $1,500 on the trade which I frankly probably would have taken for it if someone offered me cash.

    • Purchased Toyota Certified 2011 Prius (Two or Three?) 33k miles, Bluetooth, Backup camera, Nav, Sat radio, Clean carfax, One owner from The Villages, Florida (figured out previous owner-72 year old female) that traded in at dealership for new Sienna. They got my trade and a check for $11,500.

I'm not certain but I believe that the Two did not come with Nav as an option. You could go to Toyota website and plug in Vin number but I'm pretty sure you got a Three. You paid top dollar but the certification (only good for 1 year) and ultra low mileage account for much of that. Check your 12 volt battery as that may need replacing soon due to the age and probably good to replace battery in both key fobs. Enjoy!

If you got a Toyota certified car the warranty is good for more than a year. The certified website will tell you the particulars.

While my 2010 is long gone, I still have the brochure. And I'm not remembering much change for the 2011 (other than USB addition mid-2010), the major changes were for 2012.

None of this was available on the Two/2 (II in 2010, I'm already forgetting the correct lingo for the 2011). Three and up came standard with 6-CD changer, Sat radio and BT. An option package had Nav, backup camera, and 4-CD changer.

Fabric seats would mean a Three, leather would mean Four-Five.

Not sure about 2012, but a 2014 Prius II will have the touch lock door handle only at drivers door. The 2014 Prius III has it at the drivers, passanger, and rear deck. My best friend and I got Prius' at same time. He could only do the II, while I did the III with sunroof. So maybe check your door handles.

OP, you have your answer it is a 3 unless it has factory leather, in which case it is a 4, you did pay top dollar, so I hope you get another 150k out of it, good luck.
