Recently got a 2008, we loved it, then I fought a deer. Ins gave us less than we paid after they called it a loss, we’re pretty stuck on the vehicle though. In our location and range, there’s an 07 with 130k for 5000, a minty 2008 with 125k for 5500, a 2008 with 170k for 4000, or a 2008 with rear panel damage Abs and brake lights “stuck” on, and 170k for 3500? We’re pretty broke, the last one was lots of saving and some family help. We got 4200 from ins, make 2k month. We know battery will eventually be the issues with any of these, but there’s a local guy that has em for 500.

    welcome!
sorry about the loss, how many miles were on yours?

are you equipped to fix the car with the abs and brake lights yourself?

140k. We’re very much so stuck on the Prius.

tough choice. hard to say when the batteries might go. i would stay away from the one that needs repairs then.
are you sure you won't consider a non hybrid?

Yeah, we’re pretty stuck. Kinda leaning towards the higher mileage 4000$ as that leaves the start of a battery fund.

Should mention that I plan to deliver for shipt or other related service with the vehicle.

Somewhat.., but I’ve gathered that it’s hit or miss. There was another , with 200k +, but had the battery replaced..

you would want to know if the replacement was a new oem, salvage or rebuilt.

hit or miss is mostly miss. the important thing is the reputation of the rebuilder, time in business, location/shop, and parts/labor warranty.

Update- the high mileage and cheaper black 2008 drives the best. It’s readout panel is different than the others, maybe because it’s from Utah? Same info, all the others had a different theme to them. The most expensive one’s battery meter was going up very fast, faster than every other 08 we’ve tried. 07 had weird noises from undercarriage, like stabilizer rods or something similar along with Exhaust noise. Batterymax in Muncie, 500 battery comes with 6 months, up to 1200 for 5 year warranty. Didn’t find hits here but maybe a different moniker? Maybe bad news, IDK. It’s looking like we’re buying the black one tommorow though.

The readout from a 2008 should be the same as others from 2006 to 2009. If it's different, it could be something from a 2004 or 2005. That would be strange.

If you're broke and need a delivery vehicle, best to put in a NEW battery when needed. It'll be much more reliable while you're using it for work.

No matter what Prius you pick, you have many experts here that are willing to help with technical issues. I would be lost in a sea of inability without them.

And round two begins. Will again borrow vehicle to go look at a few more in Columbus tomorrow. Ranging from 04 with lots of miles but priced at 2500 to salvaged 08 with really low mileage. If there’s more contenders I’ll update. From wha I can tell, 4K isn’t too hateful for the black 08 with 170 but I’d rather check my options better. We’ve been without a car for over a week now though so it’s getting tougher to say no.

If by "theme" you mean the color on the Multi Function Display, I wouldn't worry about that. The Display button on the MFD allows you to choose the color you want to see.
