    What could have possibly caused this carnage?

    You've for a major project going over there: suspension, HV battery, engine swap, and all that.

    What engine did you finally out in there? 1.5, or 1.8L displacement?

    Not sure of cause, it had 220000mi on it. Haven't Been able to find anybody that has installed a newer engine so I've been looking at a few of the same year model 1.5L with less then 150,000mi, Just haven't Bought one yet. Most are around $600 with shipping.

    Those are the two options you ha e for now, if you intend keeping the car.

    A low mileages engine, or rebuild the existing g one.
