No one said anything about not wearing a seatbelt

i was only trying to let others who wanna know how it's done..
    not get dumb opinions

i wear my seat belt all the time but the noise it makes is so damn loud

seat belts still work and can worn without be yelled at by the warning noise. why did so many people on here decide that when you wanna turn the noise off that i wasnt planning on wearing a seat belt... I feel like it's typically like people putting words in my mouth

I fasten my seatbelt before starting the car. No warning sound.

Even if the real reason is a dog or frequent heavy packages.........having the "buzzer" disabled makes it MUCH more likely that the driver will fail to buckle up by mistake.

Yes, yes I KNOW that would never happen to YOU. Thousands of people in the cemetery said the same thing..

I would really be curious how many people have died because they forgot to put on the seatbelt vs making the conscious decision to not put it on. Especially within say the last 15 years. I can't think of a time since I started driving that I forgot to put on my seatbelt and I can't think of anytime I've had someone in my vehicle who forgot to buckle up either. I have a 1952 Willys and most of the time when people jump in they ask me where the seatbelt is and seem very uncomfortable that there isn't any.

What I find odd is the lack of seatbelt use on North American TV shows. Plus it seems like a lot of folks smoking like chimneys...

If the seatbelt is worn, there won't be a chime lol.

Also in the Gen 4, it only dings for 6 seconds initially. The constant chime only occurs if you haven't put on your seatbelt 24 seconds after the car has moved above a certain speed.

Let me be the first to say congratulations on turning off that annoying feature on your car and by figuring it out yourself. Also, welcome to priuschat, the only place where a simple post about disabling a seatbelt beep can be turned in death, mayhem, trips to the morgue, criminal investigations and smoking on TV shows. Dont let the likes of sam spade get under your skin, sometimes i think he makes crazy replies to be a deliberate troll. Its your car, dont let the naysayers bother you.

    You are quite wrong.

How would you feel if I said "I sometimes think he throws around insults just to start fights." ????

Part of learning new stuff is learning the BAD along with the GOOD.
But it seems like a lot of folks these days don't understand that.

And you are quite wrong about that too.
It happens to varying degrees in ALL public forums like this........ever since the days of dialup modems and "bulletin boards".

AND, in the U.S., we have more lawyers than the rest of the other countries in the world put together! In California we have more lawyers than the rest of the states put together! There ain't no way in hell I'm going to disconnect any of these warning devices and risk being sued by somebody.
I draw the line at the repeating backup beeper; mine beeps once, and it was adjusted by the dealer for free.
Regarding pets in the car, I wouldn't risk my puppy's life without a belt, or other protection in this crazy traffic environment we have out here. Animals too can get hurt in an accident!

Aw man, you're calling my puppy a "projectile" !!?? Where's your heart!!??
Actually I am owned by my cat Yewee, who would NEVER foul herself by riding in a mere automobile. She's quite happy at 12.5 years old, to run and jump in the back "yawd" or on the furniture. She hasn't been in a car for over 10 years!

That is exactly what you did Sam. You called the op not just stupid, but highly stupid and then have the audacity to try to take the high road when i called you out on it. This is an ongoing problem here. New posters show up only to get blasted by absurd, irrational comments and never come here again. The op of this thread hasn’t been seen in almost two weeks and most likely will never post here again. Honestly i don’t blame them at all.

It was her car and she was thrilled to have disabled a feature she found annoying. You called her stupid for doing so. You started the insults and now she will no longer add to the priuschat community. This saddens me as someone that took the initiative to figure this out themselves could be a valuable asset here.

    Just an observation.

Are you saying that it is invalid and was made just to stir up trouble ??
I quite assure you it was not.

And I did not say SHE was stupid but that the one specific act was.
    There is a difference.
Even the most brilliant among us does stupid stuff occasionally.

And even the most stupid does something brilliant eventually, but I'm still waiting patiently.
