It was raining hard here today and I wanted to record and post this video for everyone to show that you need to be aware that the radar sensors for the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control might not be as effective when you are driving in bad weather. Stay safe out there everyone!!

Thanks for the heads up. I am happy that the Prime offers the opportunity to switch to constant speed control, when conditions impair the DRCC. We have a Audi SUV, with DRCC. When traveling in winter snow to Northern Michigan I unfortunately found that the Audi DRCC stopped working when it got covered with snow or ice and there is no option to use constant speed control. Foot to pedal the whole time.

In my situation earlier today when I recorded the video, I would probably not want to use the Constant Speed Control option. In fact, I have never used the Constant Speed Option for DRCC at all. Without the DRCC, the car would actually want to keep moving at the set speed, which would be more unsafe than having DRCC since it does not react to the car in the front moving faster or slower. I would therefore not recommend using it even if DRCC is not functioning correctly. But maybe there is a good case for using the traditional cruise control option in some situations.

Using cruise control on wet roads is a no no.

Yes, the great thing with -any- cruise control is that on potentially slippery surfaces it -may- drive you right off the road! ;)
I often use it in the city, but I pay -close- attention! We have photo radar everywhere here and if I don't use CC I will probably be speeding. And getting "QSL" cards in the mail from law enforcement. :(

QSL card - a card telling where you were, what you were doing, and when. Used by radio operators (amateur mostly) to confirm contacts.

If you read most if not all owners manual they warn you about using cruise control when the roads are wet or slippery. When it rains you should turn your cruise control off and you headlights on.

And on the Gen 3, if your wipers are on DRCC will automatically disengage (after several seconds... not immediately lol)

Pearl S doesn't shut down DRCC if the wipers are on. I guess it was removed in 2012?

The wipers have to be on the "HI" setting. DRCC works in "LO" or "INT".
